From the legendary "My Screwup" to the quiet "My Old Lady," get your tissues ready.

Scrubs is back, and surprisingly, the tenth season has made us rethink old episodes. J.D., Turk, and Elliot have aged and gained wrinkles and existential questions – as have we.

In this light, some original Scrubs episodes take on a completely different meaning.

8. "His Story II" – Season 3 Episode 18

IMDb Score: 8.0/10

The episode centers on Turk, who is preparing to marry Carla. At the last minute, Turk is overcome with uncertainty. Since he is performing surgery on a talented pianist's hand that day, the comedy takes a dark turn.

It's an instructive episode about how some changes are for the better, but some things can never be fixed and must be accepted.

The episode also features a scene inspired by silent films where J.D. and the Janitor work as clowns in a children's hospital ward.

7. "My Best Moment" – Season 4 Episode 12

IMDb Score: 8.6/10

On Christmas Eve, a single father is admitted to Sacred Heart for an examination. He is accompanied by his ten-year-old son. J.D. promises the boy that he and his father will be home in time for the holidays, which earns him a scolding from Cox.

Unfortunately, the patient's condition deteriorates rapidly. J.D. and his mentor struggle to find a diagnosis. Carla is angry that her advice is being ignored, Kelso is reluctant to treat an uninsured man, Turk is terrified of the surgery, and Elliot is afraid of caring for the boy.

Ultimately, it is the boy who helps the characters do the right thing.

6. "My Catalyst" – Season 3 Episode 12

IMDb Score: 8.9/10

There's a new doctor at Sacred Heart named Kevin Casey, and he's a genius who changes everything. Although he is a charming man who is easy to like, several main characters soon come to hate him.

Cox hates him because he remembers how much more talented his college friend was. Turk hates him because he realizes the difference in their skill levels. J.D. hates him because Casey doesn't want to become a father figure to him.

However, Casey has his own problem: he has severe obsessive-compulsive disorder.

5. "My Long Goodbye" – Season 6 Episode 15

IMDb Score: 9.0/10

Nurse Laverne, a devout Christian, had definitive answers to the big questions. In an earlier episode, she had argued with Dr. Cox about divine providence. The next day, she was hit by a car.

The entire clinic came to say goodbye to the dying woman except for Carla, who was having a hard time accepting the loss. J.D. helped Dr. Cox and Jordan, who was in labor. Some felt that the death at the clinic would overshadow the birth.

Furthermore, Laverne's ghost began haunting Carla while Cox received a visit from Jill, who had become pregnant in the afterlife.

4. "My Old Lady" – Season 1 Episode 4

IMDb Score: 9.1/10

This early episode demonstrated that Scrubs was here to stay. Of course, even the most cheerful hospital comedy can't avoid sad topics.

However, Scrubs decided to raise the stakes right away. Several fledgling doctors treat patients who are destined to die. J.D. is somewhat fortunate – his patient is an elderly woman who is ready to embark on her final journey.

She comforts J.D., becomes his mentor, and helps him cope with his fears of death and life.

3. "My Way Home" – Season 5 Episode 7

IMDb Score: 9.1/10

Turk searches for a donor heart for his patient. Elliot searches for information to present at a conference. Carla struggles to find the courage to become a mother. J.D. tries and fails to leave the clinic on his day off.

This episode is an obvious homage to The Wizard of Oz and the quintessential Scrubs episode. It features nearly all of the characters and their relationships, as well as subtle lessons in growing up and surreal fantasies in just the right proportions.

2. "My Lunch" – Season 5 Episode 20

IMDb Score: 9.6/10

It's a knockout episode that was a hit with audiences and a critical success. Boasting perfect timing and direction, the episode features a number of killer jokes, including the amateur psychoanalysis of the sexually obsessed surgeon Todd.

However, things gradually become too serious. At first, nothing foreshadows this, until J.D. and Cox run into an old acquaintance, the suicidal Jill, during their lunch break.

1. "My Screwup" – Season 3 Episode 14

IMDb Score: 9.7/10

No Scrubs fan was left untouched by this episode. While it may not have been the saddest episode in the show's history, it was certainly the most unexpected.

Furthermore, the episode is most often remembered due to the appearance of Brendan Fraser, a guest star in the story and an actor with a difficult career and personal circumstances.

Fraser plays Ben, Dr. Cox's best friend and the brother of his ex-wife. In the first season, the eccentric photographer had already visited the clinic, and he returned in this episode for his nephew's birthday.
