The first episode of Season 8 of Rick and Morty finally debuted on Adult Swim on May 25. New episodes will air every Sunday until July 27.

To make the wait less painful, here are the best episodes of the entire series, filled with fantastic sarcasm, wild absurdity, and touching moments that will make you cry your eyes out.

8. 'The Ricks Must Be Crazy' – Season 2 Episode 6

IMDb Score: 9.3/10

The generator of the flying saucer that Rick, Morty, and Summer were traveling in has failed. Rick and Morty go inside the device to fix it and discover a universe similar to ours inside.

However, Summer's storyline is particularly compelling in this episode. At first, it seems rather boring: the girl just waits for her grandfather and brother. But the saucer activates a protective program for Summer that does not spare violators.

The episode is full of small, witty jokes, such as the greeting gesture scene and Rick's response to Morty's question, "Where are we?", right after Rick made it clear to Morty that they are going inside the battery.

7. 'Close Rick-Counters of the Rick Kind' – Season 1 Episode 10

IMDb Score: 9.3/10

This is not only the most reference-heavy episode, but it also marks the beginning of an important – and perhaps most intriguing – storyline.

Here, we meet the Morty that fans have dubbed Evil Morty, easily recognizable by his pirate eye patch and indifferent, arrogant expression. We also meet a Morty who looks like Eric Stoltz in Mask and learn about the alliance between Ricks and Mortys across the universe.

6. 'The Wedding Squanchers' – Season 2 Episode 10

IMDb Score: 9.3/10

For those who have watched Game of Thrones, this episode will immediately bring to mind the episode with the Red Wedding. Additionally, this is one of the rare episodes where we see the real Rick, who is usually hidden behind a mask of self-confidence and cynicism.

This mad scientist is actually much more complex than the eternally grumbling and disappointed old man. And his latest discontent turns out to be providence.

5. 'Fear No Mort' – Season 7 Episode 10

IMDb Score: 9.4/10

The seasons of Rick and Morty often end with a big showdown. Season 7, however, had a modest finale without any grand spectacle. Still, it was emotional and important for the development of the characters.

Rick and Morty go to a horror park where they meet a man in a suit. He takes the grandfather and grandson to a café where there is a real Fear Hole. Those who jump into it face their deepest fears; those who get out become fearless.

Morty jumps in, and Rick rushes after him. In a mysterious dimension, they are met with a severe test of mental balance.

4. 'Total Rickall' – Season 2 Episode 4

IMDb Score: 9.5/10

Steve shows up at the Smiths' house and Jerry considers him his brother. Everyone in the family except Rick claims that Steve has been living there for a year. But why is Rick seeing him for the first time?

Realizing what has happened, Rick kills Steve. It turns out that it was an alien parasite who took the form of a nonexistent person and gave the Smiths false memories of him.

Despite knowing from the beginning who the real Smiths are and who the alien parasites are, the ending of the episode still makes us question this.

3. 'The Vat of Acid Episode' – Season 4 Episode 8

IMDb Score: 9.5/10

In Season 4, there is an episode in which Morty sees different versions of his death. However, Episode 8 revealed an even more intense moral journey.

Morty convinces Rick to create a device that allows him to live as if in a game – to "save" before making any decision so that, if something goes wrong, he can go back.

At one point, a series of short scenes depicting Morty's mini-adventures transitions into a full-fledged dramatic storyline. Ultimately, Morty comes to an important conclusion. What does a vat of acid have to do with it? It plays a very crucial role.

2. 'The Rickshank Rickdemption' – Season 3 Episode 1

IMDb Score: 9.6/10

Rick tries to escape an intergalactic prison and succeeds despite the agents' attempts to deceive him with simulations to uncover the secret of his invention.

Meanwhile, Morty and Summer try to find and save their grandfather. They even manage to enter the reality that Rick and Morty abandoned in the episode about the love potion.

These adventures lead to Rick not only escaping prison but also finishing off two of his enemies, the Federation and the Citadel, and destroying the entire intergalactic economy.

1. 'The Ricklantis Mixup' – Season 3 Episode 7

IMDb Score: 9.8/10

8 Most Rewatchable 'Rick and Morty' Episodes, Ranked by IMDb - image 8

"The Ricklantis Mixup" is the most dramatic and uncompromising episode of the show, surpassing all others.

It has four storylines, none of which end well, and an inspiring yet terrifying message – everyone can be anything, from a saintly martyr to a soulless monster. Morty is Rick, Rick is Morty, and each of us is both Rick and Morty. Happiness is unattainable and death is inevitable.
