Now You See Me 3 will see the return of an actor who will bring the original vibe to the movie.

Summary

  • Lionsgate recently announced that the third installment of Now You See Me is already in post-production.
  • Along with this, details about the cast of the upcoming movie have also been revealed.
  • It will bring back a cast member from the original Now You See Me, and it will definitely be a correction of an earlier mistake.

Now You See Me is arguably one of the most underrated heist-thriller franchises of the past decade: despite its high production budgets, star-studded ensemble cast, and absolute commercial success at the global box office, the films have barely been mentioned in the media and on social media platforms nearly 8 years after the release of the second installment.

However, from 2020 to 2023, Lionsgate has been actively releasing information about the upcoming sequel, teasing fans of the film series with updates on the production process. And now, just over a week ago, the media giant announced that Now You See Me 3 is already in post-production, and with that came exciting details about the upcoming cast.

What makes this news so exciting is that Lionsgate will be correcting a mistake that disappointed audiences with the release of the second film, as one of the central and certainly incredibly memorable characters was not able to reprise their role. However, Lionsgate has officially confirmed the return in the second sequel, and fans are raving about this update.

The Return of One of the Four Horsemen

Fans of Now You See Me who remember the plot of the first installment may have already guessed who we're talking about. Yes, we are referring to Henley Reeves, played by Isla Fisher, who did not participate in Now You See Me 2.

But back to the announcement itself. In April 2024, at the annual CinemaCon, Lionsgate confirmed not only that the movie was already in post-production, but also that Fisher would be rejoining the project.

The reason for her departure was trivial and had nothing to do with on-set conflicts, sudden decisions by Lionsgate, or the actress' immediate reluctance to return to the role. In fact, it was announced in 2014 that Fisher would not be able to return due to her pregnancy, so her character was replaced in the second installment by a new member of the Four Horsemen, Lula May, played by Lizzy Caplan.

Fortunately, Isla Fisher was not recast, and this may serve as the story basis for her return to the franchise.

How Can the Return Be Explained in the Movie?

It seems that Henley's magical career is in no hurry to end: in the previous movie, it was said that she left the Four Horsemen because there had been no further instructions from The Eye for a long time, and therefore the character decided not to stay in a constant agonizing wait.

Therefore, it would be logical to assume that in the upcoming movie, Henley will receive an invitation from Dylan (Mark Ruffalo ), who is now the head of The Eye. Or maybe (just maybe) she has long been involved in some kind of operation but has not revealed it due to its secrecy.

Who Are the Actors in the Upcoming Sequel?

In addition to Isla Fisher, other cast members who will appear in the third installment of Now You See Me have also been revealed. Here's a list of the original cast members who will officially return to their roles:

  • Jesse Eisenberg as J. Daniel Atlas
  • Mark Ruffalo as Dylan Rhodes
  • Isla Fisher as Isla Fisher
  • Woody Harrelson as Merritt McKinney
  • Dave Franco as Jack Wilder

It is not yet known if Lizzy Caplan will return to her role. It also remains to be seen if the participation of Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and David Warshofsky will be confirmed. In addition, the new movie will focus on the younger generations of magicians. They are played by Ariana Greenblatt, Dominic Sessa and Justice Smith.

The release date for Now You See Me 3 is currently unknown.
