Episode 15 followed a major character’s tragic death, but it's even worse that his closest friend couldn't be there to grieve. Stay with us to see why 9-1-1 was wrong not to bring Eddie back.

The latest episode of 9-1-1's season 8, Lab Rats, follows one of the worst plot twists of the entire series. For the first time in the show a major character dies and it's definitely a point of no return for each of the 118 members, as well as the viewers. Until the credits rolled, everyone thought it was impossible that Bobby Nash was actually dead.

Unfortunately, it was true, and the tragic death was something Bobby could not escape. True to his character, he died a hero, sacrificing his own life to save Chimney. His last moments were beautiful and full of love, he even managed to say goodbye to all the people he loved.

But one person was missing.

While it’s at least understandable why Eddie couldn't be there at the moment of Bobby’s death (although there are still questions), it’s absolutely terrible that he wasn’t there for the funeral. It just feels like wrong and even lazy writing that the creators decided it was natural for him to miss his mentor’s funeral.

“While the actors definitely acted their hearts out there were crazy plot holes and it felt rushed (the whole season has been disjointed and a little odd). It was also kinda weird from a narrative point to do this and not have Eddie in the episode as well,” Redditor HotDragonfly5289 said.

Why Wasn't Eddie There When Bobby Died?

The show sent Eddie to Texas for one important reason: he had to make it right with his son. Yes, he mentioned many times that the son he has is the most important thing in his life. But it seems that Eddie's arc was already completed in Texas. The relationship with his son was solid and there was nothing else to pursue there.

But the writers decided to keep him there for some reason and have him skip some of the most important storylines (Lab Rats included) in the show that 118 members were a part of. And it just seems unnatural that the whole gang is not even interested in Eddie's perspective.

Eddie Should’ve Been There for the Funeral

Bobby and Eddie shared a special bond that lasted throughout the series. And while it wasn't as obvious as the one Bobby shared with Buck, it was still a rock solid one. They had a lot of past traumas in common, a shared background, a deep understanding of each other's life choices.

Bobby's death is the biggest thing that happened on 9-1-1, and relegating Eddie's reaction to the show's most heartbreaking loss to the offscreen diminishes the importance of it.
