9 Netflix Shows Returning with New Seasons in 2024: Outer Banks, Umbrella Academy & More

1. Emily in Paris Season 4

Excuses-moi? Did someone say Season 4?

After the previous season's shocking cliffhangers, including Camille leaving Gabrielle at the altar, Emily in Paris fans are anxiously waiting for updates.

Production began in January this year, taking place once again in the City of Love, but with the Summer Olympics set for Paris this year, filming will have to be wrapped up by June. This could see the season dropping in December, or even sooner.

2. Outer Banks Season 4

John B and the Pogues will be back to make waves with the fourth installment of the teen series, and possibly their biggest adventure yet. Before Season 3 was released, the cast announced that Season 4 was confirmed, and there was no better place to do it than the immersive Poguelandia event, a festival recreation of the show's coastal setting.

There is no definite date for the upcoming season, although we do know for sure that we'll be returning to the island paradise on Earth, with endless summer vibes, and an epic treasure hunt featuring all 6 of the crew.

3. Sweet Tooth Season 2

27 April

The family-friendly fantasy and our favorite human-deer hybrid return this year, to uncover the origins of the Great Crumble, and the truth about where he comes from.

Season 2 sees new secrets coming to light, a deadly wave of the Sick, and Gus and his hybrid friends being taken prisoner by a megalomaniac scientist in pursuit of power.

4. The Diplomat Season 1

20 April

Among the shows making a return this year, the Diplomat is set for its much anticipated debut. This political thriller sees Kate Wyler, a career diplomat, thrust into an international crisis in a position she is not suited for.

On a high-stakes mission to thwart a war, Kate must also prevent her marriage from falling apart, in a series packed with action, drama and moments of rather comedic quarreling between her and her husband.

5. Squid Game Season 2

The 2021 phenomenon, and Netflix 's most viewed show of all time, returns for this year for its long-awaited second season. The thrilling K-Drama detailing a competition, where elimination spells death, began filming its upcoming season in July 2023, and anticipated a release in the second half of the year.

Lee Jung-jae revealed in an interview,

'I have no idea what will happen or the scale of it, but the only thing [director Hwang] did tell me was that Seong Gi-hun is going to be in the show again, and he's going to be playing in the arena again.'

Whilst the reality spinoff, Squid Game: The Challenge, kept us entertained, we are more than ready for the upcoming season. Many believe that season 2 will be geared towards revenge, as Gi-hun, having ultimately won the game, finds out that they are bringing in new recruits.

6. Bridgerton Season 3

16 May

Hold your horses, dearest gentle reader, the end is not as close as you may think. The slow-burn romance will drop its first four episodes on May 16th, and then it's a short wait till June 13th, for the next four.

It's finally time for Penelope and Colin's relationship to blossom, and heat up. The pair will take center stage in this season's romance, as Colin grapples with his feelings, and the ever loved and loathed Lady Whistledown stands to experience a romance worth writing about.

7. Love is Blind Season 6

14 February

There could be no better release date for the experimental blind-dating show, where contestants hope to find genuine love, without knowing what the other person looks like.

Season 6 is well underway, and we've already reached the engagements! But that's not all, this season also has us Googling pictures of Megan Fox, learning the term 'Bean Dip,' and more. It's been heated, and dramatic, and we can only expect this to continue in the upcoming episodes.

8. Cobra Kai Season 6

The show's 6th, last, and longest season yet, is set for release this year. This month, we got a teaser clip, with the announcement:

'A message to the most badass fans out there: Cobra Kai is officially back in production filming The BIGGEST. The BADDEST. The FINAL season. See you in the dojo!'

There are grudges to settle, a global tournament to be won, and many questions that need to be answered. Like, where will Silver's students go? And what could Kreese be planning?

9. Umbrella Academy Season 4

8 August

Umbrella Academy will also be making its last appearance on screen, with its fourth and final season releasing in August.

After its 2019 launch, and landing a spot as one of Netflix's Top 3 most popular series of the year, the show certainly has had a strong run, and fans are more than ready for one last Hargreeves adventure. Emmy Raver-Lampman, who plays Allison, teased exciting new villains, and familiar shenanigans to look forward to in the show's concluding season.
