A-List Cast, D-List Execution: Disney+'s Top-2 K-Drama Is the Biggest Flop Fans Call "Terrible"

This K-drama shows that a star-studded cast alone isn't enough to make a series worth watching.
The South Korean drama Twelve was one of the most intriguing fantasy projects of 2025. With an impressive cast and an intriguing premise, it promised to be a thrilling battle between angels led by Ma Dong-seok and evil spirits led by Park Hyung-sik.
However, the already released episodes of Twelve are rather disappointing, and here is why.
What Is 'Twelve' About?
Light arose from darkness and filled the void, giving birth to the sky, land, ocean, sun, moon, and stars. Twelve angels, led by Tae-san and endowed with almighty light, were sent to the world and entered into battle with an army of demons.
After endless battles and the sacrifice of four angels, the demons were defeated, and the gates of darkness were sealed. Since then, the earth has been at peace, and the angels took human form and lived among people.
However, the awakening of the powerful demon O-gwi forces Tae-san and the other angels to enter battle against evil once again.
'Twelve's Characters Are Extremely Bleak
For half a season, the drama reveals almost nothing about most of the angels. They are just a group of people without distinctive features or bright personalities, played by good actors who have nothing to work with.
The angels could showcase their unique abilities during battles, but they all just fight hand-to-hand.
Because of this, the characters do not demonstrate any interesting teamwork dynamic. The only way the drama's writers try to emphasize the relationships within the angelic group is through a few short gatherings over dinner.
'Twelve' Fails to Develop a Simple Yet Worthy Concept Into an Engaging Fantasy Story
Twelve subverts expectations and offers a poor introduction to what could have been an interesting story.
Instead of a dynamic fantasy action story about the confrontation between angels and demons, it shows a series of scenes that are sometimes extremely weakly connected. There is neither a disclosure of the main characters' personalities nor interesting action.
The drama will either reveal itself from a new side with fantastic speed in the remaining episodes, or it will remain a mediocre work that failed to implement its simple yet good concept.

“This show is bad. Terrible action and writing. The plot doesn’t even move forward, and the characters they are focusing on are boring.”
