Pierce Brosnan looks almost unrecognisable in this dramatic role.

Watching Pierce Brosnan shift away from his usual charming, silver-haired characters has become one of the more interesting things about his recent work, for me. His recent turn in MobLand as a weary gangster showed a different side of him — and he clearly isn’t done surprising us.

In the upcoming film Giant, Brosnan takes on another unexpected role: real-life boxing trainer Brendan Ingle, the man who coached legendary British boxer Prince Naseem 'Naz' Hamed for over a decade. Brosnan’s transformation in the newly released trailer is striking — if you didn’t know it was him, you might not guess.

Directed and written by Gangs of London’s Rowan Athale, Giant follows Naz’s journey from Sheffield to global boxing fame in the 1990s. It’s a classic underdog story, but with more emotional depth than most.

The film focuses not just on the fights, but on Naz’s bond with his Irish trainer, Brendan Ingle — a relationship that grounds the drama and gives it weight.

Amir El-Masry plays Hamed, with Pierce Brosnan as Ingle. The cast also includes Katherine Dow Blyton, Isabelle Bonfrer, Arian Nik, and more. Sylvester Stallone serves as executive producer — a fitting touch, given the subject.

The film has been in development since 2020 and officially moved forward in early 2023. Yet outside the UK, this story is still not widely known — which makes it all the more worth telling.

Giant doesn’t have a release date yet, but the trailer hints at a film that blends raw energy with real heart. Not just about boxing, but about ambition, identity, and the people behind the scenes.
