There's no better studio to adapt Elden Ring than A24 – and fans have never been more unanimous in their opinions. However, news of an Elden Ring movie should be taken with a grain of salt, and here's why.

Rumors that one of the most popular games of recent years, Elden Ring, will be adapted into a movie have been circulating for several years, but only recently information appeared that the production has been taken up by the studio A24 and Alex Garland has become the director.

A24 Elden Ring Movie Is Reportedly Confirmed, Alex Garland Is Not

This was reported by Nexus Point News with reference to its own sources, but the story was soon removed. However, MovieWeb claims that they were able to confirm the information that the rights to adapt Elden Ring were bought by A24.

The news about Alex Garland may probably be just a rumor, as he announced last year that he was taking a break from directing.

Elden Ring uses the same narrative mechanics as Dark Souls and Demon's Souls – Japanese studio FromSoftware takes a very laconic approach, with most of the world's story told through location design and item descriptions.

The game combines the dark atmosphere of the Dark Souls world with the mythological depth co-created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin.

As a result, the plot is disjointed and doesn't reveal all of its secrets, at least not right away. However, fans almost unanimously agree that A24 is up to the task.

Redditor ManIWantAName wrote:

“If there is a single studio I thought could handle something like this it would be A24.”

A24 seems like the perfect choice for the adaptation – it's a studio with a unique vision, and its previous dark fantasy effort, The Green Knight, was a hit, earning an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes. Redditor bauul commented:

“A24 did The Green Knight, which I thought had big Dark Souls vibes to it. I could see something similarly low-key working in the Elden Ring universe.”

Hidetaka Miyazaki and George R.R. Martin Previously Teased an Elder Ring Adaptation

Earlier, the head of FromSoftware, game designer Hidetaka Miyazaki, said that the studio is open to the idea of making a movie based on Elden Ring, but for this it is necessary to find a reliable partner, because the developers themselves do not understand how to create film adaptations:

“I don't think myself, or FromSoftware, have the knowledge or ability to produce something in a different medium. So that's where a very strong partner would come into play.”

Later, George Martin, who helped write the lore of Elden Ring, said that negotiations are already underway to produce a movie, but he himself will not participate in the creation of the adaptation.
