Henry Cavill is leading this Amazon MGM reboot of the 1986 classic, and having Chad Stahelski — the director behind John Wick — at the helm already made me curious. But now, the Highlander remake just got a major boost: Karen Gillan has officially joined the cast.

Karen Gillan is set to play Heather, Connor MacLeod’s mortal wife, and I couldn’t be happier about this choice. She’s proven her talent in big franchises like Guardians of the Galaxy and Doctor Who, so I know she’ll bring depth and strength to the role.
What’s even cooler is that this means another Marvel Cinematic Universe reunion, as Gillan and Dave Bautista will share the screen again after Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame.
The Highlander Cast Is Already Stacked
Honestly, the casting lineup for the Highlander remake is wild. Russell Crowe will take on the legendary role of Ramirez, originally played by Sean Connery, while Dave Bautista is set to portray the fierce warrior known as The Kurgen.
And then there’s Marisa Abela from Industry, stepping in as a brand-new character created for the film. I love that they’re introducing fresh elements while still honoring the original story.

The original Highlander was iconic for its sword fights and unforgettable lore, and with Henry Cavill leading this remake, backed by Chad Stahelski’s action expertise, I’m expecting something truly epic. Add in Karen Gillan as Heather, and this cast feels unstoppable.
