Agatha All Along Season 2 May Still Have a Chance After All
Things might look bad for Lilia, but not for everyone else.
WandaVision’s spin-off with Kathryn Hahn as charismatic witch Agatha Harkness, Agatha All Along opened yet another compelling character’s story to raving reviews, looking like a solid promise for the show’s bright future.
Having wrapped its first and initially only season up in October 2024, Agatha All Along has since been quiet about whether there’s something else in store for the show’s lead sometime in the future.
However, the fandom’s calm wait for an announcement was crushed by one of the cast members’ bombshell revelation, though to some it seemed like a pretty rushed comment to make right now.
Agatha All Along’s Patti LuPone Says Season 2 Won’t Happen — Fans Don’t Agree
The whole issue started fueling up after the actress’ recent announcement of allegedly the entire show’s fate. Talking about Agatha All Along’s future on the Andy Cohen Live podcast, LuPone revealed that the team had no plans for another season.
“Jac Schaeffer, the creator, came into my trailer and she said, ‘Patti, I’m just here to tell you that Lilia’s going to die,’ and I went, ‘But I wanted a second season’”.
Well, that would be a solid reason to get worried in case LuPone’s character Lilia Calderu was the show’s lead and then just died in the first season’s finale — Lilia does in fact die in there, but that’s still not enough to scrap the series. Additionally, the alleged news wasn’t followed by any type of official announcement from Agatha All Along’s team, so it’s still hard to believe the actress that easily.
LuPone’s words were quick to gather Agatha All Along’s fans in a heated discussion on Reddit; creating a new thread, a Redditor Mizuenalover39 pointed at the fact that the actress’ words actually make no sense right now since “Patti said that she had the conversation with Jac in her trailer, meaning that this was before the show even came out, so a Season 2 is still possible”.
“It also seems quite specific to Patti LuPone, more like "there won't be a second season for Lilia", rather than there won't be a second season at all”, another user nicknamed ExioKenway5 added, stating that LuPone’s words actually might have been misinterpreted.
Agatha All Along Season 2 Still Might Be Canceled for Another Reason
Even though it’s safe to say that Agatha All Along almost got its second season greenlit due to positive reviews from critics and viewers, there might be another stumbling block on its way to an official announcement.
Fans have been long vocal about the show’s creator Jac Schaeffer’s weird habit (or rather a principle) of not doing second seasons, opting for writing a complete story for just one season instead.
The biggest problem here is that Schaeffer’s WandaVision, which eventually spawned Agatha All Along, never received a proper ending, resulting in many fans turning against Schaeffer.
Agatha All Along’s potential next season remains a big mystery though, and LuPone’s recent revelations probably made it all even more entangled.
