While the debate about whether AI is the future of TV production or not rages on, one user has employed it to create an intro for an 80s sitcom of Family Guy with scary realism.

The music and set are the 80s to a tee. And if this was a genuine opening to a sitcom from that period, it's a safe bet to say that it would have been a popular one.

That is provided the writing and acting had matched the quality of the opening credits and set. And the characters are all there, to a greater or lesser degree.

Lois is exactly how you would picture her. And we can all still agree that Peter is definitely punching above his weight.

Chris generated by AI is arguably better than his cartoon counterpart in terms of suiting his character.

And the same could be said of Meg. Stewie is even funnier as a concept in the AI version. The kid looks so sweet and you just know the juxtaposition of the voice and character of him would be hilarious.

Brian, on the other hand, is a dog. Admittedly, this was always going to be the biggest challenge for the AI bots. And while he's not instantly recognisable as Brian from Family Guy, once again, the voice would probably be enough to make the joke work.

Cleveland is perhaps the closest in looks to his original version. And both Quagmire and Joe Swanson are quite obvious – although the wheelchair helps with the latter.

Which brings us to the star of the show. One thing that has always stood out with Peter Griffin is just how realistic he looks. Compare him with, say, Homer Simpson for example.

Homer has all the attributes of the overweight, middle-aged dad that he epitomises. We can all recognise him as a character, but we don't know him.

The same can be said of Hank Hill in King of the Hill. But everybody knows somebody, or at least has someone in their neighbourhood who genuinely looks like Peter Griffin.

Now, the AI version of Peter Griffin may well look less like the cartoon Pete than the man in your neighbourhood. But there is little doubt that the character the bots have created is Peter Griffin in AI form.

The size, the hair, the mouth, the glasses; they're all spot on. And if you knew this man, he'd have the nickname 'Family Guy' or 'Pete'.

But, of course, there is one more character that we need to mention. Ernie the Giant Chicken, who is, shall we say, not quite on a par with the rest of the cast in terms of likeness? But would we all watch it anyway? Hell, yeah!
