'The Paper' Release Update Has 'The Office' Fans Devastated

The Office’s highly anticipated spinoff seems to be doomed, though some fans still believe that The Paper does have a chance.
The Office’s universe is back in the upcoming spinoff series titled The Paper, though it might not be just as good as the original show after all.
Premiering on September 4 on Peacock, The Paper was supposed to release its first four episodes only, with one more coming to the streamer’s platform every week. However, there’s been a major change of heart among The Paper’s creators who have now decided to drop the entire first season on the premiere date, according to Variety.
This, despite allowing many fans to binge The Paper without unnecessary waiting, still came as some sort of a menacing message for those who had high hopes for the spinoff’s quality.
‘The Office’ Fans Now Believe ‘The Paper’ Isn’t Good Enough for Weekly Release
Like many other hit TV series of the moment, The Paper was meant to release its episodes one by one to build the necessary hype, though now many fans of the original show have a reason to think that there’s nothing to build that hype on.
“So its not good?” Redditor mintbacon wondered in a thread.
“Based on this news, do I think it will be bad? Yes. But if I were to be optimistic, it could also be a show that takes some time to get into, and they're afraid people will drop it if its on a weekly schedule”, BeerGogglesFTW added.
“You could tell by the first teaser screenshots of the cast that this show would absolutely goddamn suck lol. Gotta think the release structure confirms the hell out of that”, Big_Guard5413 agreed.
Alternatively, ‘The Office’ Season 1 Wasn’t That Good Either
Aside from those who claimed that The Paper’s changed release scheme might be due to creators wanting viewers to build their impression based on the entirety of the season, others also suggested that, whether the spinoff will in fact be bad or not, the first season doesn’t really say anything at all.
As they pointed out in the same thread, The Office made many want to quit it after its first season, though things improved significantly starting from season 2.
“I dropped The Office during the first season. I didn't think much of it at the time. It took a few years for me to come back to it. At that point, they tweaked Michael Scott's character. After that I could go back and appreciate season one”, BeerGogglesFTW continued.
“The Office barely kited by during its first season, which was 6 episodes. The show picked up during season two, when they started to give the show its own identity separate from the UK series”, ParadoxInRaindrops wrote.
The Paper’s entire first season is landing on Peacock on September 4.
