Alien: Earth is part of the vast universe created by Ridley Scott. But before it, Ridley Scott made another series – Raised by Wolves, which suffered one of the most outrageous cancellations in recent years.

The premiere of Alien: Earth on FX has proven that the demand for high-quality, dark, and philosophical science fiction rooted in the Alien universe remains strong.

The project's success serves as a bitter reminder of Ridley Scott's Raised by Wolves, another bold, ambitious, and unique series that didn't get a chance to complete its story.

What Is 'Raised by Wolves' About?

Global conflict between atheists and followers of the Mithraic cult has rendered Earth uninhabitable and nearly destroyed human civilization.

Two androids, Mother and Father, arrive on the desert planet Kepler-22b. An atheist hacker sent them there with six human embryos to repopulate the planet.

Initially, the children die one by one from an unknown disease. Then, one survivor – a boy named Campion – begins to ask uncomfortable philosophical questions and make invisible friends.

'Raised by Wolves' and 'Alien: Earth' Are Connected Not Only Through Ridley Scott

Although the premises of Raised by Wolves and Alien: Earth have nothing in common other than androids or synthetics in both stories, the two shows are connected by something more intriguing – Ridley Scott and his ideas.

In the first season of Raised by Wolves, Mother kills something wrapped in black rags. Under the rags is a humanoid with the face of an Engineer from the Alien franchise.

Later, in a flashback involving a creepy ritual, we see something resembling the helmet of a Space Jockey placed on a dodecahedron.

However, meticulous viewers noticed that the helmets from the Alien and Raised by Wolves universes are slightly different. The humanoid killed by Mother is human-sized, but Engineers are much larger. Still, the similarities cannot help but catch the eye.

Scott himself insisted that the events of Raised by Wolves do not take place in the Alien universe. However, it could all be a matter of copyright. Perhaps Scott continued to quietly tell the story of Prometheus in Raised by Wolves.

'Raised by Wolves' Cancellation Was One of the Most Outrageous in Recent Years

However, we will probably never know the answers to these questions and many others: What happened to Marcus? Who is Sol? HBO Max canceled Raised by Wolves after the second season, which ended on a cliffhanger.

The show most likely faced such an untimely end due to the merger of WarnerMedia and Discovery, which created Warner Bros. Discovery. The merger affected many Warner Bros. projects.

Fans of the series were outraged by the cancellation and tried to save Raised by Wolves by publishing posts with the hashtag #RenewRaisedByWolves and calling for a third season. But it did not work.
