‘All’s Fair’ Viewers Think Casting Kim Kardashian Wasn’t Ryan Murphy’s Biggest Mistake

It’s been a couple of quite turbulent years for American Horror Story’s creator Ryan Murphy, but all the backlash got to its peak this week.

Thriving after American Horror Story’s success, Murphy went on to create several more shows, including the infamous Monsters anthology that reflects on the stories of the most violent maniacs in American history.

Started back in 2022, Monsters released its third season titled The Ed Gein Story around a month ago, garnering mostly negative reviews from both critics and audiences.

However, Murphy’s brand new legal drama All’s Fair with an impressive cast and Kim Kardashian as its lead sparked an even bigger outrage among viewers, and it’s not really Kardashian who is being most talked about right now.

Despite many being a bit sceptical about Kim Kardashian starring as the show’s main figure, it’s safe to say most of the viewers were having high hopes just because a bunch of prominent and acclaimed actresses agreed to appear as well.

Apart from Kardashian, All’s Fair also stars American Horror Story’s alumna Sarah Paulson, Naomi Watts, Tetyana Taylor and Glenn Close.

However, both critics and audiences crashed Murphy’s new drama, stating that even such an acting powerhouse couldn’t keep it safe from being a total mess.

“This is probably a cold take by now but having a bunch of high caliber actresses standing behind KIM KARDASHIAN on the poster was one of the most embarrassing things I’ve seen. I’m just imagining Naomi’s kids explaining to her what “cringe” is”, Redditor ICUMF1962 ranted in a thread.

“I saw the commercial and it looked like a fake trailer you’d see in a Ben Stiller movie”, realfakejames added. “They all went for a money grab! Each on of them were successful without compromising themselves”, Large-Illustrator-35 chimed in.

Ryan Murphy might not be new to facing harsh criticism from the most influential outlets, but it’s also likely he has rarely seen his new brainchild being criticised in literally every aspect.

For now, Murphy’s All’s Fair is hailed by the most of the critics as one of the worst TV series of all time, with many highlighting how bad the screenplay, acting and in particular Kim Kardashian’s presence are.

“The best actors are chameleons who are able to disappear into their roles, but you never for a second forget that you’re watching Kardashian. Her delivery is stilted, bland, and devoid of authenticity that would make the character feel human”, Collider’s Taylor Gates mentioned in her review.

“Amid this disaster zone of soapy plotting and reeking dialogue, it is perhaps unfair to single out Kardashian. Her participation is just one disaster among many”, The Telegraph’s Ed Power shared.

All’s Fair’s three episodes are now streaming on Hulu.
