No one is cuter than this guy, right?

It’s not news that old time rom-coms are mostly a little outdated, but who am I to care about that and stop rewatching all my favorite movies from time to time?

One of the cutest actors in Hollywood, Tom Cruise, before becoming the “mission impossible guy” was a star of several rom-coms that cemented his talent in the industry. And while there are a lot of comedies that deserve to be categorized as the best, there’s a particular one called Jerry Maguire that holds a special place in my heart.

Released in 1996, it tells the story of a sports agent, Jerry, who has a crisis of conscience and decides to leave his lucrative job at a big firm to start his own agency. Of course, it turns out to be a little harder than he thought, but he is determined to succeed. His almost sole support becomes single mother Dorothy Boyd, played by Renee Zellweger.

The emotional depth of the film lies not only in Jerry's professional journey, but also in his personal one, particularly his evolving relationship with Dorothy, who eventually becomes his romantic partner.

What sets Jerry Maguire apart from other romances is the perfect blend of heartfelt drama and lighthearted romance. A combination that can make any movie a masterpiece if done carefully. The movie's iconic lines like "You complete me" and "Show me the money" have become ingrained in pop culture, but it's the sincere moments that truly resonate.

“Everything about it is perfectly done. Not only does it excel as a romantic comedy, but also as a sports film. Having the focus of the movie be on the sports manager was really fascinating to me and I loved exploring the business side of the sports industry. The story is perfectly done, a story about love and redemption, finding where your heart truly lies in with a great message about treating the people you work with better,” Redditor Snoo_83425 said.

There's also an undeniable chemistry between Cruise and Zellweger. They both bring warmth and authenticity to their roles, which helps their on-screen romance both funny and genuinely touching.

Jerry Maguire is available to stream on Netflix.
