The franchise has recently had a major downgrade after being passed in the hands of Amazon MGM.

Darker times might be approaching for James Bond movies’ fans, even though the new owners of the classic spy franchise claim otherwise.

Bondiana’s years-long story of struggles with new ideas and new actors taking on the role has ultimately seen another major twist when the franchise’s longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson announced they would be stepping away, passing on the torch to Amazon MGM alongside artistic rights over both existing and future movies.

Despite Bondiana becoming a new heavy weight on the company’s shoulders, Amazon MGM’s execs, unlike many fans, are nothing but excited about what’s next for the worldwide famous spy.

Amazon CEO Breaks Down James Bond’s Future

In the light of everyone’s fears regarding major changes that Bondiana might see in the upcoming years, Amazon CEO Andy Jassy is probably the most optimistic voice about the matter.

In an interview with Deadline published several days after the news about Broccoli and Wilson’s decision emerged, Jassy revealed that it’s currently too soon to discuss what’s next in store for James Bond’s future at Amazon MGM, and it might take some time for the company to find someone who would write a good story.

“But we will take great care. It’s an amazing franchise that we care a lot about and that we expect to develop over a long period of time”, he added, also making it clear that no one is up to the idea of AI being used for writing or developing the next movie about James Bond.

Jeff Bezos Is Already Busy Looking for New James Bond

Despite Jassy’s words about Amazon taking its time to bring another good story about the famous spy, the company’s executive chairman has already shown his active position in the franchise’s future development at MGM.

Around a week ago, when the news broke about Bondiana moving into the hands of Amazon, the company’s former president and founder Jeff Bezos was quick to pick up the hot topic and posted a news screenshot in his social media, asking the audiences to decide who they want to see as James Bond next.

Some appeared to be quite ironic and suggested Bezos cast himself as the secret agent, while others weighed in on previous candidates’ chances to finally become James Bond.

The numerous rumours about actors potentially taking on the role next included the names like Henry Cavill, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Tom Hardy, and Theo James.
