Now fans have every reason to get truly excited.

After the huge success of Ridley Scott’s The Martian, starring Matt Damon, the bar is set high for the next Andy Weir adaptation — Project Hail Mary — this time starring Ryan Gosling. The film follows a teacher-turned-astronaut on a mission to save Earth from a dying sun, promising another epic space adventure.

What really got me buzzing recently was Andy Weir’s reaction after seeing early cuts of the movie at San Diego Comic-Con.

He said, "I’ve seen cuts of the film, and it’s really good, guys. It’s really good."

Coming straight from the author, that’s some serious praise. Weir’s enthusiasm makes me confident that this adaptation will do justice to the novel—and possibly live up to the legacy of The Martian.

With Drew Goddard taking his time to perfect the script and directors Chris Miller and Phil Lord tackling the challenges of a space-set film, there’s every reason to be hopeful.

Gosling’s charm and humor already shine through in the trailer, showing a lead who’s truly out of his comfort zone — literally out of this world.

If Andy Weir says it’s "really good," then I’m officially counting down to March 2026. Fingers crossed, Project Hail Mary will be the sci-fi blockbuster we’ve all been waiting for.

After seeing the trailer and hearing Weir’s praise — are you in?
