If you like crime dramas and the dark, gritty style of British productions, Criminal Record on Apple TV Plus should hit all the right notes. Not only does it have an intriguing investigation at its core, but it also tackles many important social issues and excels at bringing out the most nuanced emotions.

Starring Peter Capaldi and Cush Jumbo, the show was an instant hit, and they were right. Now that viewers have seen all 8 episodes of the first season and had some time to process what happened, there was only one big question left. Will we see more of Criminal Record?

Thanks to the series' own DS June Lenker, this is no longer a mystery.

Will There Be Criminal Record S2?

There isn't much to share yet, but Cush Jumbo seems to be very positive about Criminal Record coming back to viewers' screens. Appearing on Watch What Happens Live alongside Gizelle Bryant, the actress said that there will be a second season of Criminal Record. But that was about all she would confirm.

In the first season, grumpy veteran Chief Inspector Daniel Hegarty, portrayed by Doctor Who star Peter Capaldi, and young and determined Sergeant June Lenker, portrayed by Jumbo herself, teamed up to investigate an old murder case. Taking two opposite stances on the case, they must find common ground and bring justice to the victim.

Cush Jumbo not only stars in the series, she is also the executive producer. So she might have a little more insight into what goes on behind the scenes. However, some viewers believe that this was just a ploy to get the network to greenlight the season. As of today, there's been no official Apple TV Plus announcement.

If Criminal Record was indeed returning for a second season, both Cush Jumbo and Peter Capaldi would have been expected to reprise their respective roles. Given that there's been no statement from the studio, the season must still be in pre-production, so it's unlikely to be released before spring 2025.

To catch up with Criminal Record and enjoy all 8 episodes of a complete first season of Criminal Record, you can stream it on Apple TV Plus. Be sure to stay tuned to be the first to hear any official news.
