Stephen Amell is here to single-handedly make The Flash's final season worth watching.

The Arrowverse just can't seem to let go of its past, as it has been announced that Stephen Amell will be reprising his role as Oliver Queen in the final season of The Flash.

Wondering how the writers are going to justify Oliver Queen's miraculous return from the dead this time, fans were quick to voice their opinions on social media, with many expressing their excitement at seeing Amell back in the iconic role. "I can't believe they're bringing Oliver back! I thought he was gone for good after Crisis," tweeted one fan.

Others were more skeptical, with one fan writing, "I'm not sure how I feel about this. It seems like they're just trying to milk the Arrowverse for all it's worth. I hope the storyline is good enough to justify bringing Oliver back from the dead again."

Despite the mixed reactions, The Flash showrunner Eric Wallace seems confident in Amell's return, stating in a statement, "As soon as our final season was announced, we knew we wanted Stephen to come back and reprise his iconic role as Oliver Queen. After all, it was Oliver who originally launched Barry Allen on his heroic path. That's why everyone on Team Flash felt so strongly that it was important to create a full-circle moment with Oliver's return in the final season of The Flash."

Fans can expect an "epic-yet-emotional episode," according to Wallace, as the show says goodbye to nine years of saving the world and fighting crime. Original Flash cast member Danielle Panabaker will be directing the highly anticipated episode. The Flash season 9 premiere episode is set to air on February 8th.

The Flash's Final Season Is Going Out with a Bang (and Three Familiar Faces)

While it remains to be seen whether or not Amell's return will be worth the hype, one thing is for certain: the final season of The Flash is shaping up to be one for the books.

With guest appearances from Javicia Leslie and Nicole Maines, as well as the return of Keiynan Lonsdale, David Ramsey, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, it's clear that the show is pulling out all the stops for its farewell run. Let's just hope it can stick the landing.
