Aubrey Plaza Teases Her Next “Badass Icon” Role In a Biopic
The White Lotus’ actress is about to take on the role of a controversial real-life figure who Plaza thinks should be respected for doing something as outrageous.
It’s been a long time coming for Aubrey Plaza and more exciting roles in her career, though it seems like the actress’s comeback will be just as extravagant as Plaza herself.
Now Plaza is yet to promote her future dark comedy detective movie Honey Don’t! directed by Ethan Coen, but she’s ready to step into a new role of a real figure that the actress never got to portray by this time.
The whole thing wouldn’t be that much of a fuss if the upcoming film wasn’t centring on one of the most infamous sex worker-turned-journalist — who Aubrey Plaza herself considers a true icon.
Aubrey Plaza to Play Heidi Fleiss In a New Biopic
Even though the actress is already famous for lots of quirky roles, this will definitely become something new even for her wide range of acting credits.
As several outlets previously reported, Plaza was eyed for the leading role in the upcoming biopic titled The Heidi Fleiss Story.
Now it seems like the actress has officially landed the role of a former Los Angeles-based prostitute who, after becoming known as Hollywood Madam, also worked as a columnist and showed up frequently on television.
“I’ve been on this track for a while. I got it in my head that I wanted to play her a couple of years ago and I’ve never played a real-life person before. It’s a different kind of scale, challenge, that I’m really excited about, and I just think she’s an incredible person, incredible character”, Plaza revealed in an interview with IndieWire at the Honey, Don’t! premiere in New York on August 12.
The actress also addressed Fleiss’ arrest for tex evasion back in 1994, stating that the character has become all the way more compelling for her personally due to this in particular.
“She’s done something that probably nobody else has ever done, and she’s still going. I think she’s the ultimate badass icon and she deserves the royal treatment. We shall give it to her”, Plaza said.
Heidi Fleiss Is Also “Very Excited” About the Upcoming Movie

Despite the production not being started yet, things are seemingly moving fast for The Heidi Fleiss Story that was announced just around a month ago.
Filming for the future movie should commence sometime in the next several months in Los Angeles, but there’s only one thing Aubrey Plaza hopes to do before the cameras start rolling.
“I have not spoken with her [Fleiss], [but] I hope so. I hope to make a little trip to her place in the desert at some point. Spiritually I feel her. I’ve heard she’s very excited about it. We’re in early stages”, the actress stated later.
In the meantime, Plaza’s Honey, Don’t! is set to arrive in theatres worldwide on August 22.
