The beloved sitcom let go of its lead star last year, and it looks like the rest of the cast was quite happy about it.

The ABC series about an ordinary 80s family raising children and struggling with their personal problems while making fun of everyone and everything has been a total feel-good show since its release in 2013, as fans were in love with the Goldbergs and their insane chemistry with each other.

And, without a doubt, the show's most beloved character was Murray Goldberg, the patriarch of the family, played by iconic comedian Jeff Garlin. So, imagine everyone's surprise when Garlin was suddenly fired from the show last year.

Garlin didn't even make an appearance in the remaining episodes of season 9, and the next season opened with a time skip and the news that Murray had actually died.

Fans were very disappointed by this, accusing the writers of using the whole behind-the-scenes story to create cheap and unnecessary drama. But why was Garlin let go in the first place?

According to the other actors and Garlin himself, the reason for his dismissal was his behavior on set. While his colleagues on the series complained about his verbal abuse and vicious antics, calling the atmosphere on the set very unsafe, Garlin himself defended his actions, refusing to admit that he had harmed anyone.

Garlin said that, as a comedian, he made fun of many things during filming, but he never hurt of anyone, so the dismissal came as a complete surprise to him.

With the cast remaining silent on actual examples of Garlin's bad behavior, fans are left to speculate as to what the actor did that prompted the producers to fire him.

But one thing is for sure, the Goldbergs will not survive without their lead star, and after a season without Garlin proved completely uninteresting and boring for viewers, ABC quickly cancelled the show, leaving fans without the 11th installment of the Goldberg family saga.

The Goldbergs Season 10 Episode 18 ‘Love Shack’ will arrive on ABC on April 5, 2023.
