Severance season 2 premiered on January 17 and has been captivating viewers ever since, ending each new episode on a huge cliffhanger.

It’s safe to say that Dan Erickson and Ben Stiller made everyone’s mind blow away when their creation, the series called Severance, first aired on AppleTV+. The dark sci-fi drama, filled with many light-hearted characters and dangerous secrets, quickly proved it’s unlike anything we have ever seen on TV.

The wait for the next season was agonizing, and then, earlier this year, fans of the show finally got their hands on the first episode of the new chapter. Severance season 2, like its predecessor, has been widely acclaimed for its absolutely stunning visuals, jaw-dropping plot twists and character development.

But it seems that there are also many fans of the show who feel that season 2 took a disappointing turn. Let's hear what they don't like about the new chapter.

1. The Workplace Charm Is Gone

Many fans miss the office setting that defined the first season. The interactions between the team members and all the shenanigans they had to go through together was actually fun to watch, and the audience definitely missed that in the new season. Also for many people, innie Mark is a perfect character, but outie Mark is unbearable. Mostly because of the way he treats people in those parallel universes.

“The most enjoyable part of the show for me was the workplace dynamics in the innie world. The oddness, humor and chemistry between the four and management. Naturally the show has to evolve, but losing a bit of the smirkiness hurts. I know it can’t live in that state forever. But I miss it,” Redditor angrypelican29 said.

2. Too Much Reliance on Plot Twists

Another complaint about season 2 is the show's increasing reliance on twists and mysteries. While the first season used twists to enhance the story, some feel that the new chapter has gone too far, to the point of overshadowing character development. The introduction of the "Helena twist" along with Mark's reintegration has added complexity, yes, but not depth.

Fans argue that the show prioritizes shocking revelations over the growth of its main characters, leading to a sense of disconnect between the audience and the people who made them invested in the show in the first place.

3. Lots of Unanswered Questions

One of the most common complaints about the season is its pacing. Some viewers feel that it moves too quickly without providing enough resolution. While the first season took its time to build suspense and intrigue, season 2 is often seen as more fast-paced, with multiple storylines unfolding at the same time. This has led to many unanswered questions, leaving fans frustrated and anxious.

“Not liking how season 2 is going so far…I feel like not a single solitary question, from last or this season has been even close to being answered, my biggest fear is that this is going to go the way of “Lost” …just a bunch of weird, edgy, unanswered questions until a lame lack luster finale,” Redditor farrellwolf said.

4. Dragging Conflict

Another thing is the ongoing conflicts of the season. Many fans feel that they are being dragged out for no reason. Issues that seemed like they could lead to significant plot developments in the first few episodes continue to drag on, leading to fan frustration.Believe It or Not, Some People Don't Like Severance S2, and Here Are Their Top 5 Complaints - image 2

The focus on these unresolved conflicts has caused some viewers to lose interest, as they feel that the story is not moving forward as it should. And we sort of agree with that.

5. And also….Goats?

Let’s hear the viewers for this one…

“My only minor gripe so far is this: The goat room didn’t totally work for me. I didn’t hate it. It might be important. I love Gwendolyn Christie. But it just felt like it was really close to being Weird for Weird Sake and I just hope the creative team is better than that,” Redditor SmokeyMcDoogles said.
