In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Ramsey shared a deeply personal part of their process for filming Ellie's reaction to Joel's death seen in Episode 3 trailer. Ramsey's approach is exactly why they were the perfect choice for the role.

“I remembered the happiest of memories that I’ve had with Pedro. The thing that is always the saddest to me is remembering the happy things. I was remembering us the first few times we met and shooting season one. I was remembering all of that and through the lens of losing him,” Ramsey revealed.

As much as we all knew what was coming, it's still soul crushing. The upcoming episode promises to hit us right in the feels as we watch Ellie process this devastating loss.

Based on what we've seen in the trailer and Ramsey's comments, we're in for some emotional damage.
