Ben Stiller Found Severance Opening Credits' Creator by Complete Accident

This is a truly inspiring story about how your social media blog can help you land a job in Severance — or maybe any other hit show.
Ben Stiller discovered the digital artist who made the mesmerizing and mysterious Severance opening credits… on Instagram. The intro was created by Oliver Latta, an artist from Berlin. And before accidentally finding his Instagram account, Severance creator Ben Stiller didn't know him.
During an interview on The Late Night with Seth Meyers, Stiller told the host how he met the future creator of the show's intro. Apparently, he was scrolling through his Instagram feed when he saw the 3D animation works posted on the account named Extraweg.
Stiller said he thought the style of his work was somehow similar to the vibe he felt the sequence should have. So he decided to set up a meeting with Latta and offered him the job.
“He worked with us over the course of time, getting to know the scripts, and all that. It’s been a lot of time to sort of like mount it in the way we wanted to do it,” Stiller recalled.
Before Severance, Oliver Latta had never created anything like that, but after working together for some time the whole team managed to come up with something that will later blow up the minds of millions of viewers. Latta’s work even ended up winning Outstanding Main Title Design at the Emmys 2022.
What Fans Think About the Opening Scene
It’s funny though that after the name of the creator was revealed, there were many people claiming they were not surprised by that and were actually thinking about Latta when they first saw the opening credits of Severance.
“I totally thought of this artist when I saw the opening credits! Didn’t occur to me that it was actually him, bc I’m dumb apparently. The way the Marks are all marching at the end reminds me of a specific IG vid,” Redditor Dragoncita6 said.
