Benicio del Toro’s Script Sparked an Airport Panic — for the Most Wes Anderson Reason

A script so quirky, even TSA thought it was real.
You know a Wes Anderson movie’s going to be a wild ride when it causes a minor security panic at the airport. Benicio del Toro, star of The Phoenician Scheme, had a memorable encounter with TSA after they peeked inside his carry-on and found something... alarming.
Appearing on Late Night with Seth Meyers, del Toro revealed that the script for Anderson’s upcoming film — printed in extra-large font — raised a few red flags.
"The opening scene is 'Interior Airplane: Bomb,"' del Toro told a laughing audience. "The second scene is 'Interior Cockpit: Eject the Pilot,' and the third scene is ‘Crash."'
Naturally, TSA wasn’t amused.
"Five guys come over and they hover around the script," del Toro said. "Finally the supervisor showed up… I think he recognized me maybe from Sicario or Traffic."
The situation ended peacefully, but del Toro gave props where they were due. "I give that guy a thumbs up because he was paying attention."
In The Phoenician Scheme, del Toro plays Anatole "Zsa-Zsa" Korda — a jet-setting tycoon with a suspicious history of aviation chaos. Art imitating life? Perhaps. But one thing’s clear: next time, maybe label that script Comedy on the cover.
