Better Than Famous Brands: This Simple Cookie Hack Is My New Kitchen Obsession
A perfect option for those who aren’t willing to spend hours kneading the dough.
Have you ever had a thought of preparing home-made cookies, but eventually gave the idea up just because the dough seemed too difficult to make it right?
Well, we’ve all been there, so no wonder some people hacked the system and came up with a simple cookie recipe that will turn out perfectly even if you’ve never touched an oven before. All you need is five simplest ingredients that can be found in any grocery store (or even in your kitchen already).
Here’s what you need: 135 g of flour, 90 g of butter, 40 g of powdered sugar, a pinch of salt, 100 g of walnuts, 50 g of candied fruit.
First, let the butter soften to room temperature and cream it until smooth, then add the powdered sugar and a pinch of salt.
Gradually, in two steps, add the sifted flour and knead the dough. Then mix in the chopped walnuts and small candied fruit pieces. Place the dough in the fridge for at least 10 minutes so it firms up and stops sticking.
Roll out the dough between two sheets of parchment paper; this way, you don’t need to add extra flour, and the parchment won’t slip if you lightly spray the baking sheet with water. Cut out cookies of any shape, place them on the baking sheet, and bake for exactly 9 minutes in an oven preheated to the appropriate temperature (about 180°C) .
Let the finished cookies rest on a cooling rack for 5–10 minutes so they develop a crisp texture.
Tip: for cookies that are perfectly crumbly rather than hard, don’t knead the dough for too long — stop as soon as the flour is no longer visible.
