Better-Than-Takeout Cheesy Hot Dogs: The Ultimate Crispy-Onion Comfort Food with a Secret Homemade Sauce
With this recipe, you’ll become the most certain hot dog fan (even if you were already bored of them before).
Even though many think that getting that perfect street-food quality makes hot dogs too difficult to replicate at home without commercial equipment or secret ingredients, this simple kitchen trick is here to prove otherwise.
Thanks to a rich homemade sauce, melted cheese wrapped around the sausage, and a handful of crispy fried onions, the snack turns out incredibly juicy and packed with flavor within just a few minutes.
Ingredients: 6 sausages, 6 hot dog buns, 6 slices of processed cheese, 50 g crispy fried onions, 40 g of ketchup, 20 g of mustard, 120 g of pickled cucumbers, 60 g of onion, 30 g of ketchup for the sauce, 30 g of mayonnaise, 30 g of Dijon or whole-grain mustard.
Peel the sausages and fry until lightly browned. Wrap each one in a slice of processed cheese and place them in the buns. For the sauce, finely chop the pickled cucumbers and onion, then mix them with ketchup, mayonnaise, and mustard.
Spread the sauce generously over the sausages. Bake the hot dogs in the oven for 10 minutes at 200°C. Before serving, add a little ketchup and mustard, then sprinkle with crispy fried onions.
