Big Mac Salad: The Fast-Food Fakeout You Can Eat Every Single Day
This clever, low-carb bowl completely ruins any craving for a standard burger combo.
Endless praise for this recipe has been circulating all over the culinary internet, and it completely lives up to the hype. The best part is that you get the exact flavor and aroma of a classic burger, but skipping the bun slashes all those unnecessary calories.
It is always a huge hit with both adults and kids alike, often resulting in immediate requests for a second round. Best of all, it comes together quickly and easily using simple ingredients.
Here’s what you need: 500 g of ground meat, 1/2 head of iceberg lettuce, 8–10 cherry tomatoes, 3–4 pickled cucumbers, 1 onion, 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, salt and spices to taste.
For the sauce: 2 tablespoons of mayonnaise, 2 tablespoons of tomato ketchup, 1 teaspoon of Dijon mustard, 1/3 teaspoon of syrup or honey.
Heat the oil in a skillet, add the ground meat, and cook until done, seasoning to taste with salt and pepper. You can add your favorite spices. Place the finished ground meat in a deep bowl.
Slice the onion into thin strips (preferably red onion, as it has a milder flavor), and add it to the ground meat.
Slice the cucumbers into rounds; there’s no need to chop them finely — the ingredients should be visible in the salad.
Cut the cherry tomatoes in half, or into quarters if they are large. Add them to the bowl as well.
Tear the washed and dried iceberg lettuce into pieces by hand.
For the dressing, mix mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, and a little sweetener.
Dress the salad with the resulting sauce and toss. Taste it, and add salt if needed. There’s no need to let the salad chill; serve it right away.
