Biggest Harry Potter Thirst Trap Isn't Coming Back in HBO Remake

At this point, everyone and their Muggle grandmas know that HBO is developing a Harry Potter remake in the form of a TV show; there’s no surprise here. But ever since the announcement, fans have been wondering whether someone from the original cast will have a cameo in the upcoming series — and one by one, the OG actors have been denying such suggestions so far.
Now, we officially lost Harry Potter’s biggest thirst trap for the HBO version.
Matthew Lewis Won’t Reprise His Role
In the original Harry Potter movies, Matthew Lewis played Neville Longbottom, the Golden Trio’s classmate, a shy and forgetful pushover boy who, over the course of the series, grows up to become an admirable man. Lewis nailed the portrayal of Neville back in the day and loves the Harry Potter universe, but he isn’t looking forward to rejoining it in the HBO TV show.
“[Doing a cameo in the remake is] not something I'm looking at or want to do but would not turn my nose up at. I'd be very interested to see if it was Neville as an adult — a whole different vibe. That could be interesting. I would certainly look at that and consider it,” the actor shared with People.
Lewis’s Neville Was the Most Random Thirst Trap
Back in the day, few movie fans recognized Neville Longbottom as a worthwhile character due to his clumsiness, soft character, and very limited screen time. Everything changed in the last two movies, The Deathly Hallows: by that time, both Matthew Lewis had grown up to be a stunning and handsome man, and his character had changed and become more confident and heroic.
Out of the blue, Neville became the new biggest thirst trap for Harry Potter fans, and Matthew Lewis got a comparable level of recognition to that of the lead stars. Years later, Lewis is still among the most interesting former stars of the franchise, and some Potterheads even suggested he play Remus Lupin in the HBO remake.
But the actor isn’t willing to join the franchise again other than to play the adult version of Neville — which, let’s be honest, is very unlikely to happen. We’d be all quite surprised if someone announced a “Neville Longbottom and the Insidious Plant” spin-off, even though that would probably still do better than Newt Scamander’s escapade.
