Bill Skarsgård Is DCU's Perfect New Joker, Fans Say: Is It Possible?

The internet knows who the next Joker should be, and it's none other than Bill Skarsgård. But what does Skarsgård think about this idea?
The role of the Joker has attracted some of the most talented actors in the industry. While we've seen many unforgettable portrayals as well as some we'd rather forget (sorry, Jared Leto), Bill Skarsgård consistently comes up in conversations as the perfect candidate to play DC's most iconic villain.
Will Bill Skarsgård play the Joker? Although nothing has been confirmed yet, Skarsgård himself has expressed interest in the role.
Bill Skarsgård Wants to Play Both Batman and Joker (Well... Kind Of)
During his interview with the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Skarsgård revealed that he has loved the Batman universe for the longest time now. Skarsgård even entertained the wild idea of playing both hero and villain by saying:
“Maybe [I can play] both. In this one Batman is Joker and Joker's Batman. You know how the actors do that when they play like twins. [But it] sounds so exhausting."
His real choice is Joker of course. No surprise here.
“I think I have a really f– cool Joker in me. Probably, somewhere,” he said.
Why Bill Skarsgård Could Be The Perfect Joker
Skarsgård has already proven that he can play creepy and unsettling characters like no one else. His portrayal of Pennywise in It continues to terrify newcomers and haunt longtime fans.
Yes, and: it's not just his experience with horror that makes him a strong contender. The actor has shown incredible range throughout his career. And while legends like Heath Ledger and Joaquin Phoenix have left massive shoes to fill, Skarsgård could bring something totally fresh to the role.
Fans’ Takes on Bill Skarsgård as the Next Joker
“Seeing he did awesome at playing Pennywise, I think this could be a starter for him. He's got the crazy look and that smile is wide, why not give him a chance? Maybe as an actual Joker origin story,” Redditor StrangerOk7536 wrote.
“I would love not to see the joker for a while. People put so much stock in him and we never see anyone else from the villian roster,” Redditor jimbo454 said.
“Oof, I don't know about that. Good as pennywise but bad as the crow. I would advise he stay away from these kinds of roles for a while and expand his filmography where he plays every other kind of role,” Redditor hbkx5 shared.
