Blood of My Blood: Everything We Know About the Outlander Spinoff & Why It Just Got Better

When a show finds its way into the hearts of millions of fans, it's only natural that a spinoff will soon follow. And for Outlander fans, the arrival of a prequel series called Outlander: Blood of My Blood is a blessing indeed. Because it gives one more chance to dive into a story so strange, yet so powerful.
Outlander focuses primarily on Jamie and Claire's romance, so isn't it great that we can now find out more about how it all happened? The prequel promises to explore the backstories of the franchise's most iconic characters, offering a fresh yet familiar take on the drama, romance and time-traveling intrigue that Outlander is known for.
And while we all know that our beloved Jamie and Claire won't be a part of the new show, the latest season hinted at how they would still be connected to the new story in some way.
What Outlander: Blood of My Blood Will Be About?
Fans will get a chance to see how the stories of the past influenced Jamie and Claire's own romance across time and space. The story in the prequel will take place between the 18th and 20th centuries, and will focus mainly on the romantic stories between Jamie and Claire's parents.

In the season 7 finale, Brianna traveled back in time and met Brian Fraser, her grandfather, when he was still alive. And he was stunned by Brianna's resemblance to his late wife, that’s why he told her the story of his life and the times he met Ellen MacKenzie. It was the 1700’s, and now we know that. And it can be a perfect starting point for Outlander: Blood of My Blood to get going.
But judging by the trailer Starz released, there’s a lot more coming our way.
And the fans are happy to be back in Scottish sites.

When Is Outlander Prequel Coming?
As fans are waiting for the 8th and final season of Outlander, Blood of my Blood is expected to release in the middle of 2025 — quite possibly, summer. Starz has also confirmed the spinoff will include 10 episodes.
