Ten episodes, one teaser, and countless unanswered questions.

Following the slow drip of updates over the past couple of years, the new series from Vince Gilligan has finally taken shape — or at least gained a name. As someone drawn to stories that hide more than they reveal, I couldn’t ignore the latest hint from one of television’s most reliable storytellers.

Gilligan, best known for Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul, has officially announced that his next project is titled Pluribus. It’s set to premiere on 7 November on Apple TV+, and it stars Better Call Saul alum Rhea Seehorn in the lead role. That much, at least, is clear.

What’s Pluribus about?

As expected, Gilligan keeps things vague. The logline describes Pluribus as "a genre-bending original in which the most miserable person on Earth must save the world from happiness." Intriguing? Confusing? Probably both. The teaser, released with the date, adds little — just the phrase 'Happiness is contagious' and one moody image of Rhea Seehorn.

A break from antiheroes

Unlike Breaking Bad or Better Call Saul, Pluribus shifts focus to 'the good guys', as Gilligan puts it. Seehorn’s role was written for her, and this time she’s leading the story — not orbiting someone else's moral collapse.

Gilligan also hints at a return to his X-Files roots, with touches of sci-fi or surrealism. But for now, the mystery is the message.
