Or is it all just wishful thinking?

Summary:

  • One of the best things about Netflix 's Bridgerton is how easily the show switches between couples from one season to the next.
  • The show works well as a compilation of love stories and keeps fans guessing who's next.
  • All signs now point to Benedict Bridgerton taking over for season 4, and fans are sure they already know his lover's backstory.

While Bridgerton fandom may be chaotic at times, considering how strongly the viewers usually feel about the couples they enjoy the most, it’s always buzzing with theories and guesses.

Even though the show is based on Julia Quinn’s novel series and follows all the major plot developments, the viewers still have a lot to think about in regards to future seasons.

Having not one or two, but eight protagonists, the show is here for a long ride. Or at the very least that is the fans’ hope. The first three seasons cover love stories of Daphne, Anthony and Colin Bridgertons, however, the fourth one (which has already been greenlit) remains a complete mystery.

However, those fans who were paying a lot of attention to details, could already guess who the star of season 4 is going to be.

Is Bridgerton Season 4 Going to Be Benedict’s?

If we rule out Gregory and Hyacinth Bridgerton as too young and not yet established in London society, the battle for season 4 is between Benedict, Eloise and Francesca. As the youngest and the sibling with the longest backstory, Francesca is likely to be pushed aside for either season 5 or 6. Benedict and Eloise, however, are both in strong positions.

One of the main reasons for Benedict going first is the order of the original books. Even though it was changed to push Colin and Penelope's story first, making them the leads of season 3, the decision caused a lot of controversy. Not only did it mess up the timeline, but it also forced heartthrob Luke Thompson to step aside for another season.

To make things right, it would only be fair to give Benedict his chance at love in season 4. Considering all the secrecy surrounding Luke Thompson's answers during the Valentine's Day Q&A session, the production agrees. The only question is: will we see his love interest, Sophie Beckett, this season?

While it's hard to say for sure, many viewers believe we've already seen her family. Actress Joanna Bobin, who portrays Lady Cowper in the series, has mentioned her character's oddly specific name, Araminta, which perfectly matches the name of Sophie's evil stepmother in Julia Quinn's An Offer from a Gentleman.

Whether this is a very strange coincidence or just a bit of backstory to lead up to the official announcement, we'll have to wait and see.

Be sure to tune in to the Bridgerton season 3 premiere on Netflix on May 16, and keep an eye out for more news to be the first to know all the details about season 4.
