There’s now a lot to wait for from The Gilded Age’s upcoming season 4, but it will take a while before this instalment’s biggest cliffhanger will find its resolution.

The Gilded Age’s season 3 finale has been a wild ride that fans expected to be the peak of the whole drama, though the next instalment will likely break this record.

Things have been quite tense for Bertha and George ever since their daughter Gladys’ infamous wedding, while Peggy’s future with Dr. Kirkland got jeopardized when a secret from her past leaked.

While for some characters everything turned out to be just fine, others will have to spend the next season finding a solution to their personal problems.

In case you got lost in The Gilded Age’s latest episode, here’s a recap of the most important events that happened.

Two sisters have been clashing with each other for a long time, but now it’s suddenly Agnes who decides to put an end to the war and admit that Ada should now run the household.

However, Agnes’ touching gesture is rewarded with a major change for her too when she is invited to become vice president of the New York Heritage Society.

Initially devastated by her parents’ decision to force her into a marriage with a man she barely knew, Gladys soon finds something to bond over with the Duke of Buckingham when her mother Bertha arrives to visit her in England.

In the third season’s finale, it’s revealed that Gladys and the Duke will welcome their first child in the upcoming fourth season.

“It’ll be interesting to see how she is as a mother of the next generation in the 1880s, whether she’ll push for freedom or push for inherited karma. You never know”, Gladys’ actress Taissa Farmiga said in an interview with TVLine upon the finale’s release.

Things Turn Out For Peggy and Dr. Kirkland In the Best Way Possible Too

The potential couple’s relationship seemingly gained tension when Mrs. Kirkland revealed to her son about Peggy having a husband and a child.

However, despite many fans being convinced that Peggy and Dr. Kirkland wouldn’t end up together for some reason, the two actually went on further by getting engaged at a Black ball.

Bertha and George May Separate in the Next Season

While it’s all good for other couples and even for Gladys, the latter’s parents will likely go through a rough patch in The Gilded Age’s next season.

Having recovered after the previous episode’s shooting, George reassessed his entire life and took it all out on Bertha, accusing her of using him and their children to gain more influence in the New York high society.

It’s not yet clear whether Bertha and George will in fact go separate ways, but the tragic outcome might be a new beginning for the entire show.

“We know how good this couple can be together, it would be really fascinating to see them spend a season figuring out how to get back to each other”, George’s actor Morgan Spector told TVLine during the same interview.
