Who Is the Villain in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2?

There were all possible signs of one new character to be the bad guy in Wednesday’s season 2, but episode 4 proved everyone very wrong.
Netflix’s mystery horror show Wednesday has just made its way back with another mystery to solve, and it seems like Jenna Ortega’s character might be heading towards even more trouble than in this season’s fourth episode.
The new instalment sees Wednesday returning to Nevermore after a summer break that she spent taking guesses about more secrets that the school still keeps from her.
With this eventually leading her to Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital where the whole action unfolds, another shocking plot twist occurs. And this is where everyone realizes they’ve been wrong about the biggest villain that Wednesday is yet to meet in the season’s second half.
Who Is Judi and Why Is She the Villain in ‘Wednesday’ Season 2? (Heavy Spoilers Ahead!)
The show’s new instalment was quick to introduce a set of new characters, including Judi, an awkward, but seemingly friendly executive assistant at Willow Hill Psychiatric Hospital.
Wednesday meets Judi when she first arrives at the hospital to check on Tyler who is currently imprisoned there; as her investigation goes further, Wednesday discovers that the name LOIS is pivotal to uncovering the mystery.
However, she soon realises that LOIS is short for Long-term Outcast Integration Study, a program that experiments with harnessing outcasts’ supernatural powers.
It’s then revealed that Judi is none other than the daughter of Augustus Stonehearst, founder of the LOIS program, now taking full control over the experiment and also owning the raven that has been stalking Wednesday.
‘Wednesday’ Creators Intentionally Fooled the Audiences With a Wrong Villain
Since Judi wasn’t much on the screen after her first appearance, Wednesday’s viewers didn’t connect any suspicious occurrence to her, especially considering that Judi’s boss, Dr. Fairburn, seemed to be far more involved in Willow Hill’s dark secrets.
As Wednesday’s showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar revealed ahead of the release on August 6, they aimed at building such a compelling mystery all along.
“We love the idea of leading the audience down the path and thinking that Dr. Fairburn is the bad guy. And then revealing that, actually, the hooded figure is Judi, the ditzy assistant. I love the idea that Judi was connected to Stonehearst, and actually Stonehearst is connected to Nevermore, so it all leads back to Nevermore and the secrets that the school holds”, Millar said in an interview with ScreenRant.
