Season 3 will be a wild ride, for sure.

Summary:

  • One would think that with 8 different stories about 8 different couples, each getting their own season, Bridgerton fandom would be drama-free.
  • However, due to questionable promotion and writing decisions made by Shondaland and Netflix during season 2, fans of Kanthony and Polin have entered into a lifelong battle.
  • Learning from past mistakes, Netflix seems to be trying to lead Bridgerton fans to peace with the season 3 promo.

No matter how great Netflix's TV shows are, many fans believe that the streamer has one of the worst styles when it comes to promoting what it has created. Promotional materials are usually released too close to the actual premiere, and there are some strange choices made as to who and how to feature them.

Bridgerton's Season 2 had to be one of the platform's most disastrous promotions. But now that Shondaland and Netflix are trying their hardest to fix the mistakes of the past, the fandom is divided... again.

Bridgerton Season 3 Trailer

For the Netflix show, which debuts in mid-May, March seems too early to release even a teaser trailer. So far, Bridgerton fans have gotten a few stills and three sneak peeks from the show, two of them featuring the season's leads, Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, and one showing last season's couple, Anthony and Kate Bridgerton.

To celebrate the second anniversary of the release of season 2, the production also released a small video poster for Kate and Anthony, which caused half of the fandom to get angry about the promo inequality. While it is understandable for fans of the main couple to see them front and center in every promo, Netflix seems to be making up for it in season 2.

The irony is that they made the exact same mistake. Instead of letting Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley shine, they pushed the narrative that Bridgerton was an ensemble show and tried to highlight all the supporting characters, including Penelope and Colin, equally. The only thing that came out of that was the ship wars.

The way Netflix now seems to be addressing the issue is by releasing the most wholesome videos, with previous leads passing the metaphorical torch to the next.

Both the Simone Ashley and Nicola Coughlan and Jonathan Bailey and Luke Newton clips were released on the same day, with the stars of the show setting an example of mutual love and respect that fandom seems to be lacking for years now.

While this is a nice strategy, it is very 'on the nose'. Fortunately, the fans, already exhausted from two years of constant fighting, are ready to raise the flag and end the battle for good, even if they recognize these videos as a talented attempt at damage control for the issue that needed to be settled two years ago.

Whether you believe that the Bridgerton team is learning from its own mistakes and currently cooking up the best possible promo for season 3, make sure you stay tuned to not miss a single news or update. Bridgerton season 3 featuring Penelope and Colin's love story is about to drop its first part on Netflix on May 16.
