The first part of the fourth chapter has arrived, and here's what's right and wrong about it.

True to its commitment to exploring the romantic stories of each Bridgerton sibling, the flagship Netflix series returns with a new season. This time, the focus is on Benedict Bridgerton, the second-oldest brother.

Following the disruption of the chronology of Julia Quinn's books in the previous season, the fourth season reverts to the original plan by offering an adaptation of the novel An Offer from a Gentleman.

Once again, the Bridgerton estate opens its doors to high-ranking guests from all over London. This time, the reception has an ambitious goal – Queen Charlotte has decided to marry Benedict Bridgerton, the country's leading bachelor.

However, fate has other plans: at the ball, Benedict meets a mysterious stranger in a silver dress, and an instant spark ignites between them. But before midnight strikes, the girl vanishes, leaving only a white glove behind.

'Bridgerton' Season 4 Raises the Issue of Social Inequality & Explores Female Sexuality from Different Angles

For the first time, Bridgerton shifts its focus from the lives of aristocrats to their servants. Through Sophie's story, the series explores rigid social hierarchies. Sophie is the illegitimate daughter of an earl who was raised by her wicked stepmother.

Even in this idealized world, privilege operates relentlessly. Benedict is initially unaware of his privileged position, while Sophie faces harassment and humiliation because her "inferior" status renders her less than human in the eyes of some men.

Their love is doomed from the start to face public censure – the best Benedict can offer is the role of a kept mistress. Sophie must choose between her feelings and her dignity.

At the same time, the series explores female sexuality. Francesca openly discusses unfulfilled intimacy.

Lady Violet has her own romantic arc with Lord Marcus Anderson, which explores the doubts and desires of a mature woman experiencing new love after many years and eight children.

'Bridgerton' Season 4 Is Still a Perfect Comfort Show – This Time About a Regency-era Cinderella

Despite its serious topics, Bridgerton never loses its lighthearted and romantic tone. The story of Benedict and Sophie is, above all, a beautiful fairy tale for adults, filled with passionate glances at balls and tender encounters in gardens.

The writers masterfully balance social drama with charming romantic comedy, preventing the narrative from becoming too dark. We still enjoy the luxurious gowns, glittering receptions, and Lady Whistledown's caustic comments.
