Who else would give such a popularity boost to British food?

The Bridget Jones franchise will soon get back to the big screens with its fourth and last instalment, but the heartwarming movies about the charming lead’s love life and its difficulties have been around for more than 20 years now, coming as a major confidence boost for girls all across the world.

A promising journalist who continually struggled with acceptance of herself, Bridget Jones has been long inspiring the movies’ fans, leading them to going on long trips just to see the house where Bridget lives or desperately looking for that ugly sweater Mark Darcy wore to the Christmas party in the first movie.

However, the beloved franchise accidentally gave some sort of PR campaign to a very unexpected set of products, and the upcoming fourth instalment made the fuss even bigger.

Ahead of the movie’s upcoming release on Valentine’s Day, British supermarkets faced a major demand for specific ingredients mentioned in old British recipes that everyone thought were left in the past.

That turned out to be false as, according to Independent, now customers are looking for turkey curry, blue leek, potato soup, and marmalade pudding more than ever before.

All of these showed up in the Bridget Jones movies at some point, with the turkey curry being the first instalment’s memorable feature during the scene where Bridget’s mother introduces her to the family friends’ son Mark Darcy.

Additionally, chardonnay wine, which Bridget declares her love to repeatedly through the movies, also saw a rise in sales up to more than 10 percent.
