Just make sure you get rid of that brightly colored string that ruined everything in the movie.

The movie series about Bridget Jones starring Renée Zellweger has remained cinema classics for years now, while some of the most awkward situations the main character was stuck in are still as funny as during the first watch. Every fan definitely remembers the time when Bridget decided to cook French onion soup for her birthday party, but forgot to remove the blue string covering the vegetables.

Eventually, the soup turned out blue, but nothing like this happens in the original recipe — just follow the list of the ingredients and instructions below to avoid Bridget’s major mistake.

Here’s what you need: 500 ml of chicken broth, 500 g of celery roots and stems, 1 leek, 1 onion, 1 bunch of green onions, 50 g of butter, 100 g of potatoes, 500 ml of heavy cream, 4 eggs.

Dice the potatoes, celery stems and roots, and onions; slice the leeks into rings.

Fry the celery and onions in butter.

Move the vegetables to a saucepan with the broth, add the potatoes and cream, and bring to a boil.

Cook for 10 minutes, then blend in a mixer. Serve with a hard-boiled egg, croutons, and finely chopped green onions.
