This month, streaming platforms have prepared a lineup of premieres, including long-awaited new chapters to hit shows and brand-new projects that could become the year's biggest hits.

1. 'Brothers'

In 2023, close friends Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson shocked the world by announcing that they might actually be related.

The actors began to suspect that they were half-brothers – McConaughey's mother admitted to having been close to Harrelson's father around the time of his conception.

Brothers is a semi-true comedy based on a story that has neither been confirmed nor denied. McConaughey and Harrelson play fictionalized versions of themselves: during a family vacation, the actors discover their possible relationship and begin investigating their parents' pasts.

2. 'Slow Horses' Season 6

Apple's hit show Slow Horses returns with an unusual format: while the creators previously stuck to the one Mick Herron book per season plan, this time everything has changed.

The six new episodes are based on two of Mick Herron's novels, Joe Country and Slough House, and will follow the hunt for former and current Slough House employees.

The decision to combine the source material seems justified: the books are linked by a common plot, forming a de facto two-volume series and an artificial break would have created a sluggish dynamic.

3. 'The Terrors of Jordan Mendoza'

The main character is incredibly fearful and constantly reflects on his mistakes and failures. He faces his worst nightmares, experiences dreadful phobias, and finds himself in absurd situations.

Behind this premise lies the stand-up comedian Jordan Mendoza's art therapy – he decided to explore his own fears and anxieties through short sketches that veer between dark humor and surrealism.

The show's opening segments are reminiscent of Jordan Peele's Get Out. Add to that the convenient 15-minute episode length and star cameos galore, and you have one of the most unusual premieres of the month.

4. 'American Hostage'

American Hostage is a potential anthology series from Shawn Ryan and Eileen Myers. The first season will tell the story of blue-collar worker Tony Kiritsis who captures a bank lender with a curious contraption: a wire collar attached to a shotgun.

Last year, Gus Van Sant adapted the events for the big screen in the black comedy Dead Man's Wire. However, the series creators will shift toward a psychological thriller, altering the focus to the radio show host that Kiritsis desperately tries to get on the air.

5. 'Youth'

A divorced literary agent is trying to raise a teenage son, build a career, care for parents with dementia, and establish a personal life. Maintaining a balance is impossible, of course, so fate repeatedly throws one wild situation after another at her.

Sharon Horgan is known for her caustic dramedies, in which she finds the right words to discuss taboo and painful modern-world topics, such as an unplanned pregnancy, a petty divorce after decades of marriage, and the murder of a domestic abuser to save her sister.

6. 'Dang!'

Netflix's adult animated series are a bit of a gamble. Viewers may get Blue Eye Samurai, with its meticulous animation and serious plot about destiny and revenge or we may get Chicago Party Aunt, with its crude animation and dirty jokes.

Visually and plot-wise, Dang! feels like the second option. It tells the story of a brother and sister living in New York who are stunned by the arrival of their older, incredibly successful sister. Due to a life crisis, she has decided to spend time with the family.

7. 'MobLand' Season 2

Release Date: September 18, 2026

Streaming Platform: Paramount+

Two Guy Ritchie shows will return to screens in September. On the 3rd, fans can expect the second season of The Gentlemen, and on the 18th, MobLand will return.

The second project deserves special attention: the new episodes will explore a rift within the Harrigan clan that forces fixer Harry to question his loyalty to his bosses.

There was reportedly no shortage of tension during the filming: the media first reported, and then denied, that the creators decided to fire Tom Hardy due to his unprofessionalism and nitpicking of the script.

The recent resurgence of detective fiction and its subgenres has prompted filmmakers to revisit Agatha Christie's extensive body of work.

This year, the miniseries Agatha Christie's Seven Dials was released. Next up are Tommy and Tuppence, adventurers and private investigators who often unravel spy conspiracies.

The new adaptation brings the duo into the present day, where a burnt-out crime writer and an unsuccessful actress are brought together by chance and begin taking on detective work on the side.
