With one of the most hated TV shows in recent memory officially ending after just one season, let's take a look at five other shows whose cancellation no one mourned.

Despite initial talks that The Idol might be renewed for a second season, it has now been revealed that the controversial series starring Lily-Rose Depp and The Weeknd is officially done after just one season.

So let's take a look at five other terrible TV shows that were canceled, much to the relief of countless fans.

Inhumans (2017)

Before Marvel figured out how to do their TV shows right (well, more or less), they tried to release this mess with great fanfare, even showing the first two episodes in IMAX.

However, in a twist of bitter irony, almost every aspect of the series was completely decimated by critics and fans, leading to its swift cancellation.

Resident Evil (2022)

Netflix 's attempt to adapt the beloved video game franchise turned out to be so pathetic that it made its predecessors, a film series directed by Paul W. S. Anderson and starring Milla Jovovich, look like masterpieces.

It completely butchered the source material and delivered an incoherent plot with dull performances from the cast (with arguably the only exception being the late Lance Reddick) that sealed the series' fate.

The X-Files (1994-2018)

Don't get us wrong, the early seasons of the legendary TV series are brilliant, but it should have ended much sooner than its 9th season in 2002.

The attempt to revive the show for two more seasons in 2016 proved even worse, so when The X-Files was officially canceled after season 11, many fans of the show sighed in relief.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond (2020-2021)

Another once-great series that should have ended long ago is The Walking Dead, but the main show wasn't canceled, it ended in 2022 with Season 11, so it doesn't fit on our list.

However, its spin-off, World Beyond, was shut down after only two seasons, as its reviews left much to be desired.

Cowboy Bebop (2021)

Netflix didn't learn its lesson with 2017's Death Note, which was based on the iconic anime of the same name, so in 2021 they tried to adapt another classic of the genre.

And while Cowboy Bebop wasn't as horrific as Death Note, it was still inferior to the original anime series, leading to underwhelming reviews and subsequent cancellation.
