Should we prepare for yet another exit?

Summary:

  • Chicago Fire is an NBC procedural drama that combines Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med into one TV universe.
  • The show returned for its 12th season on January 17, and viewers were already emotional about Blake Gallo's abrupt departure.
  • Another shocker, however, came unexpectedly with Herrmann's trauma after the blow.
  • Chicago Fire's showrunner warns fans of the serious consequences that could follow.

It seems that the team behind Chicago Fire decided to take things a step further and prepare viewers for more exits than we initially expected.

Not only did viewers have to endure the pain of saying goodbye to fan favorite Blake Gallo, who announced his move to Michigan, but they also saw two more members of Firehouse 51 come dangerously close to being written off. Both Mouch and Herrmann's futures were in question.

If one ended up okay and back on the job, the other showed his reckless bravery and dangerously injured himself, or so it seemed.

Without any explanation, we're sure that the remaining episodes will further explore his condition and give the audience an understanding of what happened.

What Happened To Herrmann In Chicago Fire Season 12

If there was one character who didn't have the best start to the season, it was Christopher Herrmann.

While trying to save the firehouse from the explosive device, he was thrown to the ground and ended up getting hit in one way or another. As he tried to reassure Ritter that he was okay, it was impossible not to notice the worried look on his face.

The Chicago Fire executive producer and showrunner warns viewers that the consequences of the decision to play it cool could be dire for the character. That's what she said in a statement to TVLine:

“That save will have repercussions, both physically and mentally. Herrmann has to decide how to handle that, and it’ll take an assist from Ritter to get him to confront the truth of what he’s going through.”

While Chicago Fire fans are no strangers to all sorts of injuries and trauma, as the show has covered what feels like every season over the years, it's still hard not to panic when it comes to beloved characters like Herrmann.

Losing him on top of Gallo, who has already left, and Brett, who will leave at some point this season, would just be too much for the audience to handle.

So our hopes and prayers go out to Ritter, who will have to confront him and get the truth out of him one way or another to get things moving from there.

If you're already hooked on the season 12 premiere of Chicago Fire and can't wait to see more, be sure to tune in to NBC every Wednesday to never miss another episode! Until then, keep an eye out for more news and behind-the-scenes updates.
