Fans are ecstatic to see things shaken up.

Summary:

  • Chicago Med is an NBC procedural medical drama that is part of the sprawling Chicago universe created by Dick Wolf.
  • The show was renewed for its 9th season in April 2022.
  • Luke Mitchell was announced as the latest addition to the recurring cast.

When the show reaches a certain point, it becomes much harder to get the fans excited. No matter what happens on screen, they have a general understanding of how the writing room works, which characters are safe, and which ones are bound to end up together no matter what. This is where many might find the show boring.

Fortunately, that is not the case with Chicago Med. Heading into its 9th season on NBC, the procedural still fascinates its fans as much as Chicago Fire or Chicago P.D. does. The only thing that bothered viewers were the constant exits.

With Brian Tee and Nick Gehlfuss saying goodbye to One Chicago after season 8 of the show, it was only a matter of time before new additions to the show would be announced. And now that the news is out, fans can only hope that this partnership will last.

Luke Mitchell stars as Lincoln Campbell in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

In an upcoming season, Gaffney Chicago Medical Center will be joined by Dr. Mitch Ripley, an emergency room physician. His character remains a big mystery, but the little details revealed to fans by Deadline are already entertaining bored minds.

Not only does he have a troubled past and an alleged unresolved history with Dr. Charles, but he is also portrayed by Luke Mitchell.

The Australian actor is known to audiences for his television career, which includes recurring and starring roles in hits like Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Blindspot, and Legacies. While Dr. Ripley, whose name has yet to be finalized, will be a recurring character, Deadline's sources suggest that his role may be expanded.

Judging by the overwhelmingly positive response on social media, everyone in the audience is already happy to support this decision.

If things continue to go well on One Chicago, it will only be a matter of time before Mitchell becomes a part of every corner of this fictional universe. And since season 9 is already confirmed to have only 13 episodes, we might see a lot more of him in the future.

To see if that happens, be sure to tune in to season 9 of Chicago Med on Wednesday, January 17th on NBC. And keep an eye out for more exciting news and behind-the-scenes updates on the show.
