Chris Columbus Teases Sequels — Could 'Thursday Murder Club' Become a Franchise?

He’d return immediately if audiences fall in love with characters.
I have to say, The Thursday Murder Club totally charmed me. Watching this quirky, cozy comedy about elderly sleuths was an absolute joy — and knowing Chris Columbus directed it makes so much sense. He clearly loved every moment of bringing these characters to life, and honestly, it shows on screen.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Columbus — famous for the Harry Potter films — explained that this was the first time since his wizarding days that he could get every actor he envisioned for the roles.
When it comes to a sequel, he’s open but cautious. “If the audience falls in love with these characters, I would prefer to do nothing else over the next three or four years than to make one or two more of these films,” Columbus said.
He added, "Honestly, since [Harry] Potter, this was the best experience in my filmmaking life. I just love working with these four actors. I would come back in a heartbeat for the second and the third films."
For fans like me, that’s great news. If the movie clicks with audiences, we might be seeing more of these hilarious, clever seniors solving cold cases — and I, for one, can’t wait.
