Chuck Lorre’s next TV show has just been pushed into development at HBO Max, and the spinoff’s premise seems to be promising for The Big Bang Theory’s fans — here’s why.

Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage is now officially not The Big Bang Theorys sole spinoff series that Chuck Lorre is working on, with another highly anticipated show being greenlit after months of rumours and speculations.

Unlike the original shows’ previous spinoffs Young Sheldon and Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, this time around the upcoming project will be centring on The Big Bang Theory’s outcast Stuart Bloom, a comic book store owner whose story fans often referred to as undeservingly ignored.

Now that Stuart does in fact get his own show titled Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, some recently revealed plot details made fans think that this might be the entire franchise’s best instalment yet.

‘Stuart Fails to Save the Universe’ Will Be “Something Radical” From Chuck Lorre

As the show’s official title implies in the first place, things won’t go well in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe, but there’s actually much more to be excited about.

According to the synopsis shared by Variety, Kevin Sussman’s Stuart “is tasked with restoring reality after he breaks a device built by Sheldon and Leonard, accidentally bringing about a multiverse Armageddon”.

He won’t be accomplishing the mission alone though, as along the way Stuart will be joined by “his girlfriend Denise (Lapkus), geologist friend Bert (Posehn), and quantum physicist/all-around pain in the ass Barry Kripke (Bowie)”.

Apart from that, the team will be seen encountering the alternate-universe versions of The Big Bang Theory’s beloved characters.

“I wanted to do something radical that would take me out of my comfort zone. Something the characters on ‘The Big Bang Theory,’ would have loved, hated, and argued about”, Chuck Lorre said in a statement.

‘The Big Bang Theory’ Fans Praise Chuck Lorre for “Unique Take”

Even though The Big Bang Theory franchise doesn’t really have a single boring spinoff series, some fans admitted that the story now is about to take a new turn and deserves some praise for its innovative take.

“We’ll have to give them some credit, that's a pretty unique take on the spin off. I was thinking they took the most annoying character and made a sitcom around him but I guess it's more sci-fi than sitcom”, Redditor peon2 commented in a show-related thread.

“I have an odd feeling this could end up being a sleeper/cult hit. If the show is its own thing and not a Big Bang reunion fest with guest appearances by the old cast I can see it working”, NoDaddyNotTheBelt25 agreed.

The show’s first season doesn’t have a premiere date and hasn’t started its production yet.

However, it’s expected to arrive on HBO Max sometime in 2027.
