Cillian Murphy Hates Being Famous: 'It Fetishizes Everything'

Cillian Murphy is an amazing actor and he is quite famous for an impressive amount of movies and TV shows he has appeared in.

From 28 Days Later to Inception, his characters are always memorable and have earned him the undying love of fans. But apparently Cillian is less than thrilled with all the publicity.

In a recent interview he shared that he finds the buzz surrounding him wherever he goes rather annoying, saying that it can "ruin experiences because it fetishizes everything."

He also specifically pointed out that he doesn't like being photographed and "finds it offensive."

And as his fame has skyrocketed following his appearance in the TV series Peaky Blinders, in which he portrays crime boss Thomas Shelby, this issue has become even more pronounced.

Murphy has become a pop culture phenomenon inextricably linked to his character, making it virtually impossible for him to avoid publicity.

Fans express understanding for the actor's position, as apparently loving acting doesn't automatically mean loving being a celebrity.

They admit that it must be incredibly frustrating to have your privacy invaded while just going about your daily life.

And while most people of other occupations don't get annoyed outside of their working hours, the situation is different for actors, who rarely get a break.

Fans say that Cillian's desire to live a quiet, simple life is completely understandable and deserves some respect. With his top-notch acting, he could have easily become a huge superstar, but he tries to stay away from all that.

Cillian Murphy will soon be seen in Oppenheimer, a biographical film directed by Christopher Nolan.

It is based on the book American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin and will tell the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the man responsible for creating the first atomic bomb.

The film will be released on July 21, 2023.
