While speaking on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor mentioned that you never know what's going to show up.

After Cillian Murphy 's recent landmark performance in Oppenheimer, it is clear that the actor's career will only continue to flourish from here, elevating Murphy to superstar status.

And with that status often come offers to appear in major film franchises such as the MCU, DCU or Star Wars.

One such possibility was recently brought up in an interview with the actor, specifically whether Murphy would be open to the idea of portraying Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

He is one of the biggest villains from Marvel Comics, often facing off against the Fantastic Four ( who have yet to make their official debut in the MCU) and the Avengers, which makes him a perfect choice for the next big threat in the cinematic universe after Kang is inevitably dealt with.

When asked this question during his conversation with Josh Hororwitz on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor simply replied, "It's always about the script."

Considering that he already has experience portraying the comic book villain in Christopher Nolan 's Batman Begins (2005) as the Scarecrow, the possibility of him donning Doom's iconic mask is not as far-fetched as it may seem.

It seems that fans are fully embracing this possibility, believing that Cillian would have made a perfect Doctor Doom, given the complexity of the character and the actor's talent.

If that happens, the central villain of the next phase of the MCU could be just as awesome as Thanos.

However, given the MCU's tendency to completely waste great characters and the overall underwhelming state of the franchise in recent years, others believe it might be better for Murphy to avoid the cinematic universe at all costs.

Regardless, the actor's next big screen appearance will be in the period drama Small Things Like These, based on the novel of the same name by Claire Keegan.

A release date for the movie has not yet been announced.

Do you think Cillian would be a great addition to the MCU or should he stay away?
