The Reagan switch-up we didn't see coming. Who is not coming back for Boston Blue? Here's what we know.

Even though Boston Blue (a long-awaited Blue Bloods spinoff) is officially happening, we are not getting Andrew Terraciano back as Sean Reagan. After growing up before our eyes for 14 seasons, Terraciano is saying his goodbye.

In his heartfelt Instagram post, he shared:

“It feels like, after 15 years, “family” isn’t a big enough word for all of the people at Blue Bloods that have changed me, and helped me, and grown with me… Though it would be another essay to explain just one of the lessons or inside jokes that we have, I will never forget what I learned on that set in Brooklyn - “Run fast, laugh hard, be kind”... Sean Reagan, I let you go.”

The torch has been passed to Mika Amonsen, who'll be taking over as our new Sean in the spinoff.

‘Blue Bloods’ Fans Are Sad to See Andrew Terraciano Go

“I'm skeptical, I would have preferred that he kept Andrew, he's the original Sean actor. It's going to be weird to see a face other than his own under the name Sean Reagan,” Redditor BellissimaFan wrote.

“If there were more years in between the ending of bb and the start of this new show I could believe the new actor is the same character but this really ruins things by them doing this. I’m still going to watch this, but it will make it harder to watch,” another fan, Revolutionary-1776 on Reddit pointed out.

Do you think it's the right decision to let Terraciano go?

What is ‘Boston Blue’ Going to Be About?

Blue Bloods is taking us to Massachusetts, where the Reagan legacy continues. Danny's heading to the Boston Police Department for a fresh start, while Sean begins his own as a rookie cop.

Unlike his dad, Sean wanted to make his own mark away from NYC, choosing Boston to forge his own path. This father-son duo gives them a chance to bond in ways they never could before. And we're here for all the drama and heartwarming moments that'll bring!

‘Boston Blue’: Release Date

Boston Blue is set to premiere on CBS on October 17, 2025. While the original Blue Bloods is available on Paramount+.
