The first month of summer has brought several loud comebacks and major premieres. Netflix will air the highly anticipated finale of Squid Game, while Ginny & Georgia and The Bear will return with new seasons.
New projects include a sports drama about golf starring Owen Wilson and a crime drama with the Supernatural fans' favorite Jensen Ackles.
1. 'Countdown'

In recent years, Jensen Ackles has only appeared in The Boys as Soldier Boy. Countdown is the first project in which the actor has played a lead role since Supernatural.
The series tells the story of a Los Angeles investigator forced to assist undercover intelligence officers investigating the murder of a Department of Homeland Security colleague.
Derek Haas, an experienced writer whose credits include political thrillers such as The Double and several procedurals, such as Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, is responsible for the series.
2. 'Smoke'
Release Date: June 27, 2025
Streaming Platform: Apple TV+
Smoke is a new project by writer and screenwriter Dennis Lehane, who previously collaborated with the platform on Black Bird. Taron Egerton will star in the new show, playing an investigator who must identify serial arsonists.
The series's high budget is evident in the trailer – it's been a while since such frightening, realistic fires have been seen on screen. Another reason to take a closer look at the series is that Thom Yorke from Radiohead wrote the main musical theme.
3. 'Stick'

Stick is a project about golf, a sport that rarely makes it to the big or small screens.
Owen Wilson plays Pryce, a former professional golfer who experiences one crisis after another when his wife leaves him and he is fired from a sporting goods store. The man then decides to make a triumphant comeback in golf.
Pryce takes a gifted teenager under his wing and begins training him to become a professional player who wins one victory after another.
4. 'The Waterfront'

The Waterfront is a family drama about the wealthy Buckley family. They run a small North Carolina town thanks to the success of their fishing company.
After recovering from two heart attacks, the patriarch returns to work and discovers that his wife and son have become involved with drug dealers. To save the company, the family must confront their conscience.
The series is intriguing for the fact that it is a personal story for the show's creator, Kevin Williamson – his father, a fisherman, was involved in drug trafficking in the 1980s.
5. 'Ironheart'
Release Date: June 24, 2025
Streaming Platform: Disney+
Riri Williams is a 15-year-old genius inventor who creates armor comparable to Tony Stark's. After appearing in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, she gets her own miniseries.
The show was filmed three years ago but has been gathering dust on the shelf this whole time. Many fans are already predicting its failure – Marvel has not promoted it much.
However, there is at least one reason to take a closer look at Ironheart: Sacha Baron Cohen will play a mysterious role.
6. 'The Bear' Season 4

The Bear has become one of the best dramedy series of our time. The creators transformed the everyday life of an ordinary restaurant into a tense battlefield.
The third season was somewhat disappointing – the fast-paced plot slowed down, becoming repetitive. The characters quarreled and yelled at each other again, and the best episode was a melancholic flashback.
But we hope it was only a preparation for the grandiose fourth season, which was filmed simultaneously with the third chapter.
7. 'Squid Game' Season 3

The finale of the Korean series that has become a cultural phenomenon is upon us. Despite mixed reviews, the second season has broken all records once again. Now, director Hwang Dong-hyuk just needs to conclude the main character's story.
However, Netflix is not ready to abandon the concept of deadly games for money. The second season of the reality show Squid Game: The Challenge has already been announced, and regional variations of the series will most likely follow.
8. 'The Gilded Age' Season 3
