Wasn't it what Sauron always wanted?

Galadriel is clearly not everyone's undisputed favorite, but it seems that pretty much everything that goes (or might go) wrong in The Rings of Power is being blamed on her. This time, a Reddit theory suggested that it was weird of the elven warrior to proceed with the forging of the rings now that she knows that Halbrand was secretly Sauron all along.

"It was clear that without Sauron's advice, Celebrimbor wouldn't have been able to create the rings. So after Galadriel discovered Halbrand's true identity, why did she not stop the creation of the rings altogether? It seems like that would've been the sensible thing to do after discovering that they have all been tricked by Sauron," Redditor misieklopata wondered.

Not only did Galadriel proceed with the rings, she also never told anyone that Halbrand was Sauron this entire time, basically allowing his disguise to last.

The Dark Truth About Rings of Power's Harfoots Only Adults Will Notice

Her decision raised a lot of eyebrows in the fandom, with people slamming it as reckless and bizarre. Still, other fans argued that Galadriel's suggestion to make three rings instead of one or two actually made sense.

"The reason they wanted to forge the crown and then two rings in the first place didn't go away, which was to amplify the powers of mithril and allow the elves to stay in Middle Earth. Sauron was playing on a real need. Galadriel recognized that the idea was the right one whatever Sauron's motivations were for instigating it." – u/cptnkurtz

Still, even if that is a thing, fans argued that "none of these characters are the wise, upstanding survivors of the First Age that Tolkien wrote" — mainly because the show's writing failing to live up to the standard. Due to that, Galadriel went into "damage mitigation mode rather than prevention at this stage."
